Genshin Impacthas a vast anime-inspired character lineup which keeps expanding with almost every new update. The current Version 2.8 has introduced the popular detective from Inazuma and the game’s first male catalyst user, Shikanoin Heizou.
Even though the game keeps refreshing its playable roster, a big part of the community seems to prefer using older characters. A Reddit user named Cqmilian has shared an exciting list showing whichGenshin Impactcharacters are mained by most players, at least according to Reddit.

Each character inGenshin Impacthas its own dedicated subReddit and the number of users they have gives an insight into their popularity. According to the list, HuTao_Mains subReddit has the highest number of members which does not come as a surprise since she was considered one of the most popular characters in the game for a very long time. Hu Tao is a Pyro polearm DPS character with a unique play style that requires some time to get used to due to multiple animation cancel mechanics. Fans are expecting the second character on the list, Raiden Shogun, to overtake Hu Tao in the future since she’s one of the strongest characters in the game and a must-have for most team compositions. On top of that, Raiden Shogun is much more important to the story as she isone of the sevenGenshin ImpactArchons.
The least popular character is Aloy which does not come as a surprise considering that she’s theGenshin Impact’s first collaboration characterwith the popular open world, action-RPGHorizon Zero Dawn. Besides being one of the weakest characters in the lineup, another reason why her popularity won’t increase anytime soon is the fact that she was obtainable only for a limited period of time, and it’s highly unlikely that she makes another banner appearance.
Fans were surprised to see that Yanfei seems to be theGenshin Impact’s most popular four-star character, at least according to the numbers on Reddit. While she is a decent DPS choice, especially for players that don’t have Pyro users in their team, multiple replies in the comment section claim that they expected Bennett to have the strongest numbers when it comes to four-star characters. The main reason why Bennett is placed so low is that he is one of the oldest four-stars in the game, and he was released back when there was not as much hype around the game or its characters.
