Last year, the online tactical shooterTom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: BreakpointintroducedAI teammates through its second live event called “Resistance,“which affected the in-game world of Auroa by shifting the balance of power between different factions. Ubisoft is now preparing to launch the game’s third live event, “Operation Amber Sky,” which will bring with it a crossover betweenGhost Recon: Breakpointand the team-based FPSTom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege.
The event begins on July 12, 2025, and will center around mysterious clouds of gas appearing all across Auroa, as seen in a cinematic trailer released by Ubisoft today. This toxic nerve gas is called Amber Ruin, according to an event breakdown, and theGhost Recon: Breakpointteam will have to partner withRainbow Sixoperators Ash, Finka, and Thatcher to stop it from being sold overseas while also finding a cure.

While fans of the expansive Tom Clancy game universe may simply appreciate the opportunity to see these characters play off one another, Ubisoft also promises 11 exclusive items will be available throughout the event period - including uniforms and an Underbarrel Shotgun attachment. There will also be Rainbow Six-themed items in the game’s store, alongside returning items from the “Resistance” live event and its predecessor, acrossover betweenGhost Recon: BreakpointandThe Terminator.
This upcoming “Operation Amber Sky” event will last for ten days, according to a Tweet posted by the officialGhost Recon: Breakpointaccount, but those who are interested will be able to try it out toward the beginning because of a free-to-play weekend from January 21 to 25, as advertised on the r/GhostRecon subreddit. It comes shortly after newGhost Recon: BreakpointDLC introduced Golem Island, giving fans more to try out during their free trial period.
Those who enjoyRainbow Six Siegeshould be particularly interested in this crossover event, as despite the team-based shooter receiving continual updates it is currently unclear when the next entry in the series will release.Rainbow Six QuarantineandFar Cry 6were delayed last October, and are not set to come out until sometime during the next fiscal year that begins in April 2021.
Ubisoft has announced numerous other delays sinceRainbow Six QuarantineandFar Cry 6. Theextreme sports MMORiders Republicwas delayed today, and will be releasing sometime later this year rather than its initial February launch window. Luckily,Ghost Recon: Breakpointfans can look forward to thisRainbow Six Siegecrossover event in the meantime.
