Arc System Works’Guilty Gear Strivehas been a huge hit for the developer ever since its launch last year. It is one of the highest selling games within its franchise, being praised for its story, characters, and music. The game’s momentum is currently in high gear as well, with a Season Pass containing five DLC characters. The first three have already been added, being newcomer Goldlewis Dickinson, a returning Jack O' Valentine, andGuilty Gear’s resident samurai veteran Baiken. WhileGuilty Gear Striveis a very engaging game already, the game’s PC version also has a very active modding scene.The modding community forGuilty Gear Strivehas already made plenty of strides in the past year, with many mods released that show off a variety of ways that show the fans' creativity and love for the franchise. These could be acostume mod for a character inGuilty Gear Strive, to mods that refine the game’s UI or replace its music. One of the biggest indicators of how far the modding community has come in the time since it released are character replacements. This can be seen with one modder who is modding a full-on playable version of Goku into the game.RELATED:EVO 2022 Fighting Game LineupThis mod was created by Twitter user WistfulHopes, who is taking on this Herculean task to addDragon Ball FighterZ’s Super Saiyan Goku into the game. As the mod is currently a work-in-progress clips of the mod can be seen on their Twitter, withFighterZ’s gameplay translated intoGuilty Gear Strive’s mechanics. This includes adapting Goku’s basic moveset and movement options, which make him fit right at home of the roster ofStrive.

The latest clips from WistfulHopes shows the latest progress made on thisGuilty Gear Strivemod, with Goku’s super attacks being implemented fromDragon Ball FighterZ. This is accompanied by clips that shows Goku doing a combo, followed up with his Kamehameha level 1 super. A second clip shows Goku executing another combo, with it being activating his level 3 super that sees him turning into his Super Saiyan 3 transformation, finishing his opponent off with a giant Kamehameha.

From top to bottom, this mod is looking incredible, where Goku fits into the roster aesthetically and mechanically. This is no doubt helped by the fact that Arc System Works developed bothGuilty Gear StriveandDragon Ball FighterZ, which both use a similar fighting system and cel-shaded art direction. WisftulHopes notes that this mod is still a W.I.P. and that Goku inStriveisn’t intended to be balanced. Eventually, players will be able to use the full power of the Super Saiyan againstGuilty Gear’s finest.
