Halo Infinitedid not make the best first impression for many fans. With a lot of players claiming that the game’s multiplayer mode was too buggy and loaded with microtransactions, those who enjoyedHalo Infinite, such asbillionaire Elon Muskand horror director John Carpenter, mainly praised its campaign. While the single-player, semi open-world experience thatHalo Infiniteoffers players was better received than its multiplayer elements, fans still found that there was something missing from the overall campaign experience.
That something, to many fans, was the addition of a co-op campaign mode. Previously,Halocampaigns could be faced alone or with a friend at the player’s back. InHalo 3, the game arguably expects the player to utilize its co-op campaign, as implied by the addition of the Arbiter as the secondary playable character. For someHalofans, then, it seemed that missing out onHalo Infinite’s co-op campaign was missing out on a traditional way to play the latest game. Now, it seems theco-op campaign forHalo Infiniteis finally within reach.

343 Industries announced viaHalo’sofficial Twitter account that the campaign’s network co-op is still planned to arrive later this year. In 343’s roadmap forHalo Infinite, it pointed to August as the time players would be able to fight the Covenant together online, with split-screen co-op coming later in 2022. With no word on a disruption to this timeline, August is still seemingly the date expected for the full launch of the co-op campaign. However, 343 is offering an earlier test flight forHalo Infiniteplayers this July.
There are other features besides the inclusion of a co-op campaign that fans want to see added toHalo Infinite. In terms of the game’s multiplayer, many were disheartened to see thatHalo Infinitedid not have a Forge mode at launch, though 343’s roadmap outlines that this is on the way in September. Someleaked footage ofHalo Infinite’sForge modehas surfaced online, giving fans a glimpse at what they will get later in the year.
Halo Infiniteis available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
