The thirdHarry Pottermovie -The Prisoner of Azkabanintroduces the Hogwarts alum, and Werewolf, Remus Lupin. The Trio meets him while looking for an empty compartment on the Hogwarts Express. Since Remus' compartment is nearly-empty, with just him asleep next to the window, the Trio decides to take it. Chapter 5 of the thirdHarry Potterbook “The Dementor” describes Remus as a shabby-looking, ill, and exhausted person. The wisest of the three, Hermione realizes that this professor is to take up the vacant Defense Against the Dark Arts post, but Ron doubts whether he’s strong enough. Remus offers Harry a large piece of chocolate to make him feel better after the Dementors of Azkaban conduct a train-wide search for the escapee, Sirius Black. One of the Dementors makes its way into the Trio and Remus' compartment, and because Harry has a negative reaction to its presence, he faints.
Shabby and frail Remus Lupin appears indeed, the truth is, Ron Weasley is too quick to judge him. He turns out to be a brilliantprofessor of the Dark Artsand the students love him. In his first D.A.D.A. lesson, which takes place in chapter 7 ofHarry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, “The Boggart in the Wardrobe,” Remus practically demonstrates how to deal with one. He teaches the class how to repel a Boggart using the Riddikulus charm. Though Remus wins the class' respect by the end, there still lies the question of his appearance. Chapter 7 ofHarry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkabandescribe him using words “as shabby as ever” but “healthier” than he appeared on the Hogwarts Express.

Severus Snape Fills In For Remus Lupin
The Potions master, Professor Severus Snape, filled in for Remus Lupin in the thirdHarry Pottermovie. Harry’s class was slightly disappointed with this turn of events and when Harry questioned Professor Remus Lupin’s absence, Snape told him off. “That’s not really your concern, is it, Potter?“Snape curtly responded. This scene is much more detailed inHarry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkabanchapter 9 “Grim Defeat.” Snape slyly informed students that Remus was too ill to take classes while adding his condition wasn’t life-threatening. He proceeded to teach Werewolves when the students were due to start Hinkypunks.
In the movie, Snape commanded everybody to turn to page 394 and proceeded to ask the class the difference between a Werewolf and an Animagus.Emma Watson’s Hermione Grangerwas the only one who knew the answer to Snape’s question. She explained that an Animagus is a wizard who chooses to turn into an animal, but a Werewolf has no choice. After transformation, a Werewolf no longer remembers who he is or those around him. The Werewolf can kill his best friend if they cross paths. Hermione added that the Werewolf only responds to the call of its own kind. Snape disregarded her contribution and called her an insufferable know-all for speaking out of turn. Later, during the confrontation at the Shrieking Shack (featured inHarry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban), Hermione revealed the truth about Remus Lupin.
Animagi And Werewolves
Hermione is a cent percent correct, as the firstHarry Pottermovie -The Sorcerer’s Stoneopens with Minerva McGonagall disguised as her tabby cat Animagus outside Four, Privet Drive. McGonagall chooses to transform back into her human form after spotting Professor Albus Dumbledore. Similarly, when Harry and Ron turn up late for Transfiguration class, Professor McGonagall has her eyes on the class, as her cat Animagus. She returns to her human form on seeing the latecomers and proceeds todeliver one of the best insultsin the entirety ofHarry Potter.Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkabanis home to Sirius Black transforming himself into his Animagus - a large, black dog to guard the Trio against Remus Lupin’s monstrous Werewolf form. As opposed to the hereditary skill of a Metamorphmagus, or Lycanthropy, where one is infected with a curse, Animagus is a learned skill. It is pertinent to mention that turning into an Animagus (plural Animagi) is a rather time-consuming, tedious, and risky process.
Werewolves are aggressive towards humans, and during their illness, Animagi in their animal forms, provide safe company to them, help calm them down, and make their monthly transformations easier. It is for the same reason three of the four Gryffindors,Hogwarts alums from the ’70s - the Marauderstransformed to help the fourth, Remus Lupin when his Werewolf side took over. It took Lupin’s cleverest friends, James Potter, and Sirius Black three years to learn to how become Animagi, all because their best friend was inflicted with Lycanthropy.
Peter Pettigrew, the man who ended up betraying Lily and James Potter tothe Dark Lord, Voldemort, needed assistance from James and Sirius to work out becoming an Animagus. James' Animagus form was a stag, whereas Peter’s was a rat. The three Marauders elected to turn into a different animal to keep Remus company during the full moon. The thirdHarry Pottermovie reveals that after the betrayal, Peter Pettigrew transformed into his rat Animagus and was adopted as the Weasley family’s pet, Scabbers. He managed to hide in his Animagus form for twelve years until Sirius Black escaped Azkaban and revealed his true form at the Shrieking Shack.
