Destruction characters inHonkai: Star Railare known for their ability to deal high single-target and AoE damage while being sturdy and able to take hits. They’re not the best tanks in the game, but having effects like recovering HP, increasing DEF, and decreasing incoming damage plays a big role in their survivability during combat.

Having a Destruction unit in the team is like having a bit of both Hunt and Erudition paths. Usually, single-target attacks are straightforward, but that’s not the case with AoE attacks. Each character tackles this ability in a different style. For example, Hook needs to cast her Elemental Burst to be able to deal AoE damage, while Clara just needs to be attacked to counter every damage she takes. The variety in their kit increases the possibility of making creative teams, especially when players know where each of the Destruction units ranks inHonkai: Star Rail.
4Arlan
Being the last in ranking doesn’t mean Arlan is a weak Destruction character. Instead, his kit is decent, and he can deal enough damage to be considered a DPS in his team. The way Arlan fight is by taking damageand sacrificing HP. The less HP he has, the more damage he’ll inflict through his passive Talent. That means players must always include a shielder like March 7th or Gepard to protect Arlan while maintaining his low HP status.
As aLightning character inHonkai: Star Rail, Arlan is a good AoE Toughness breaker since his Ultimate equally breaks Toughness between all his targets. Arlan also possesses strong survivability through his Traces and Eidolons, which makes him a true Destruction unit.
3Hook
Hook operates more as a single-target hitter and is only able to cast an AoE attack once she uses her Ultimate. Her kit revolves around DoT instead of raw numbers.

As afire character inHonkai: Star Rail, Hook inflicts her targets with the Burn DoT, and that further increases her damage against them through her Talent’s passive. Contrary to most Destruction characters, Hook possesses little to no survivability. Her only healing comes from her first Trace where she regains 5% HP whenever she triggers her Talent, which is a fairly easy passive to trigger.
2Physical Trailblazer
Trailblazer is a balanced Destruction character with the ability tohit hard in both single and multiple targetsscenarios. Not only decent in damage but the abilities of Physical MC make them both an excellent DPS and Toughness breaker. Their Skill hits one main target and two additional targets adjacent to the marked enemy; the main target will have their Toughness reduced by 60, while the others get minus 30 Toughness. The Ultimate is where things get interesting; it gives players the ability to hit a single target or AoE attack multiple units. A single-target hit takes away 90 Toughness, while the AoE version takes 60 from every target.
The MC is not only balanced in attack types but also in stats. Trailblazer gains all kinds of stats through their kit; like ATK% from their Talent, DEF% through their Traces, and recovering HP in one of their Eidolons. This makes them an excellent Destruction character that excels in damage dealing and Toughness breaking while also having decent survivability.
1Clara
Not only is she the best Destruction unit, but Clara is also one of thebest 5-star characters inHonkai: Star Rail. With her ability to tank great damage while letting Svarog counter any attackers and marking them, Clara demonstrates the perfect path of Destruction as she excels in both offense and defense.

Clara’s Talent unconditionally reduces DMG taken by 10%. When she gets hit, Svarog will immediately counterattack while also marking them. Then, when she uses her Skill, enemies marked by Svarog will take the damage twice, making Clara anexcellentHonkai: Star RailDPSas long as she’s taking DMG from enemies.
Clara’s Ultimate further emphasizes her role as a Taunt unit as it doesn’t deal damage, but instead reduces DMG taken by 15% and increases the chance of enemies hitting her for two turns. Svarog’s counterattacks are also enhanced; the robot will now counterattack whenever an ally is attacked, and the damage dealt is increased massively. The enhanced counter also hits one main target and the enemies adjacent to the marked enemy, which means it can hit up to three opponents. The adjacent targets take only 50% of the main DMG, but it’s still an amazing addition. This enhanced counter can trigger twice on each Ultimate cast.
Honkai: Star Railis now available on Android, iOS, and PC. A PlayStation version is in development.
