InThe Thaumaturge, Wiktor Szulski begins his journey in the aftermath of a disastrous failed attempt to capture a Salutor. This has weakened his connection to his first Salutor and, as a result, weakened many of his abilities as a Thaumaturge. Fortunately, as the game progresses and Wiktor continues his journey he will be able to level up and improve his abilities.
Improving Wiktor’s abilities inThe Thaumaturgeis crucial to all elements of gameplay. Raising Wiktor’s Dimension Force for each of the four dimensions will allow him to investigate more effectively and also help him disable troublesome enemy traits during combat. As such, players will want to scour each area for every last bit of Experience they can acquire. Along with completing the game’s many quests, there are plenty of other ways to earn some Experience.
Earning Experience
Players can earn Experience in several different ways throughout the game, with large amounts of Experience coming from the completion of quests.This means that following leads and exploring Warsaw’s mysteriesis an excellent way of getting more powerful. That said, players will also get a small amount of Experience whenever they interact with a new object, such as reading a document or analyzing a Trace using Wiktor’s powers. This will add up quickly and has the added benefit of providing more information about the world and the people in it. Often the solution to a situation can be found by examining everything Wiktor can get his hands on, so the Experience gained from interacting with objects in the world is likely intended to encourage players to search thoroughly.
A type of sidequest players will frequently encounter is a Stereoscope that displays a picture when interacted with. Interacting with it will grant some Experience and add a new entry to the “Urban Secrets” section of Wiktor’s journal.By finding the place where the picture was taken, players can complete that Urban Secret and earn even more Experience, making this an excellent way to level up quickly. Naturally, this doesn’t offer as much Experience as the longer quests the game offers but is still a relatively quick way of earning extra Experience. This makes it a useful way to get some extra skill points and improve Wiktor’s power before heading into a tough situation.
