One of the most interesting things aboutHyper Scapein the leadup to its full launch yesterday was how Ubisoft hyped up the narrative aspect of the game. More than most battle royale games,Hyper Scapeseems to be setting up a deeper storyabout the digital world players fight it out in, one full of darker secrets than anyone realizes.

Now that Season 1 is underway, players can start digging up pieces of that story while they play through the Memory Shards. Much like, say, theXP Coins inFortnite, these are collectibles that players can find hidden across the game’s map while they take on some of the other challenges that await them. The difference here, though, is that these contain pieces of lore that provide players with a deeper understanding ofHyper Scape’s universe.

Full Season 1 Week 1 Challenge List

In keeping with battle royale convention,Hyper Scapeis utilizing a series of weekly challenges to give players side-objectives to complete and Battle Points to earn towards grinding outSeason 1’s Battle Pass. For anyone eager to know, the first week’s challenges are:

Memory Shard 1.1 & 1.2 Locations

There are two Memory Shards to find currently inHyper Scape(with more to presumably follow in the coming weeks), and luckily they’re pretty easy to find if one knows where to look in Neo Arcadia. Starting with Shard 1.1, all players need to do is head to Tora Garden near the map’s center, and there they’ll find the Shard directly in front of the area’s tall monument.

Shard 1.2 is a little more hidden than 1.1, but players should be able to find it quickly enough. It’s located in Unity Hill right on the northern edge of the map, beneath a tall building with orange doors. Players will need to head down a stairway next to the building and pass through a glitched-out door to find the Shard, but once they’ve found it and Shard 1.1, they’ll be free to read the lore in the Shards through the Hall of Champions in the game’s hub.

Hyper Scapeis free-to-play for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and is slated to be a launch title for PS5 and Xbox Series X.
