Overwatch 2may not have reworked every hero on the roster, but some characters have benefitted from the changes that were made to others. Widowmaker is one such hero, and a recent clip shows her thriving in theOverwatch 2meta.

InOverwatch 2, shields have become a fair bit less common. Not only has Overwatch 2 reworked Orisa to remove her shield, but each team only has one Tank - meaning that, at most, Widowmaker will only have one Tank’s shield to get rid of. Whether it’sReinhardtand Sigma’s walls or a Winston bubble, breaking these down should not be too difficult of a task. This is a huge deal, as it allows her to focus more on hitting low health characters since they will have far less protection from the Tanks on their team. In turn, Widowmaker will likely be a lot more viable in the sequel, and Redditor Caff2ine proves it.

Normally, 5v1 situations are completely inadvisable inOverwatch. If a character can get back to their team and group up, they should, and if not, they should jump off the map in order to regroup without feeding the other team ultimate charge. However, theWidowmakerplayer in this Reddit clip took the risk of fighting a 1v5, and through pure skill, they managed to win, completely wiping out the opposition and moving the payload to the next checkpoint.

The clip takes place on theOverwatchmap Dorado, and it begins with the Widowmaker outplaying an enemy Hanzo. After taking down her fellow sniper, the Widowmaker has a great shot on the payload and all the enemies that are surrounding it. They quickly snipe the enemy Zenyatta and Moira, landing perfect headshots and wiping out the opposition’s source of healing. AJunkratis also killed, with the three headshots coming back-to-back.

The most impressive kill of all is onthe incredibly powerful Orisa, who chooses to fight the Widowmaker instead of going back to her team - likely shocked at what just took place. While the Orisa does put up a bit of a fight and forces the Widowmaker to switch to her primary fire and utilize her mines, the sniper manages to take down the bulky tank in the clip. Alongside 9,000 upvotes and tons of comments praising Caff2ine’s aim, some pointed out that Mercy deserves credit for reviving Widowmaker at the start of the footage and making the moment possible.

When players hop into theOverwatch 2beta, focusing the enemy Widowmaker could be more important than ever, especially if they have experience playing as the Talon member. Based on this clip, the hero is more of a threat than she ever has been before, with less shields available to block her shots and protect the team.
