One of the most absurd, and powerful, features of the turn-basedLike a Dragongames is the Poundmates system. In the game, this is a service you can call to have someone assist you in emergencies, but in Ichiban’s overactive imagination, it’s a way to summon powerful temporary allies like inFinal FantasyorDragon Quest.
For a fee, Poundmates can be used to beat up an opponent, and inInfinite Wealthsome will stick around for a few turns to perform their special move several times. Thankfully, it’s pretty easy to unlock Poundmates inInfinite Wealth, as you onlyneed to get to Hawaii(in the first few hours of the game) to access the substory.
How To Unlock & Use Poundmates
Like inYakuza: Like a Dragon, players don’t start outInfinite Wealthbeing able to call upon summoned help. You actually have to get relatively far into the game to unlock this feature – about 6 to 8 hours or so. When you get to Chapter 3, and start looking for Chitose, Ichiban and the gang will eventually come across a lead from a flyer as part of the main story progression. They follow the lead, but as it turns out, this Chitose is not the same as the one Ichiban is looking for – she’s Chitose Buster Holmes, partner ofPoundmates' very own Gary Buster Holmes.
The substory, titled ‘Busted!’, will begin as part of the main story andplayers don’t need to go out of their wayto find its start point. As you continue through the game and complete other Substories, Kiryu memories, and other side activities, other Poundmates will become available to summon.
Unlike inYakuza 7, Poundmates will cost money to summon from the moment they are unlocked – no free trial period, except during the initial substory.
