As online multiplayer fans know, if players are given the opportunity to troll others, then it’s inevitable it’ll happen—andLost Arkis not immune to that. That’s why there’s an ongoing conversation going on within theLost Arkcommunity regarding a unique problem tied to skipping cutscenes. More specifically,Lost Arkhas a feature in its cooperative multiplayer dungeons that allows players to skip cutscenes, but only if all four players agree. Needless to say,Lost Arkplayers are divided over the proper etiquette for watching or skipping these cutscenes.
The topic recently came up in a thread on the mainLost Arksubreddit. A post titled “My Bad!” features a recently popular meme where the CW actor forThe Flashstands over the grave for Oliver Queen, Green Arrow, while smiling and flashing a peace hand sign. TheLost Arkmeme has the gravestone marked as “Cutscene 3/4,” meaning three of four players want to skip the cutscene, with the message over the Flash saying, “Me: Enjoying the Cutscene.”

To the credit of theLost Arkcommunity on Reddit, the vast majority of upvoted posts all share a similar sentiment. They all say that they’re completely fine watching the cutscenes if someone in their group still wants to watch them. They all want other players to enjoy the game and if that includes watching the cutscenes, then they’re free to enjoy them. After all, that’s what the voting system is there for. It’s in place to ensure everyone gets to watch the cutscenes that want to.
However, there are also some users who are sharing horror stories, too. They’ve had the opposite experience in-game. TheseLost Arkplayers say that they tried to watch the cutscenes and in return received nothing butdisgruntled messages and harassmentfrom their party members. While the system works to allow players to watch cutscenes if they want, it also is going to make a lot of easily-angered players harass their teammates.
From there, the conversation devolves into a lot of smaller topics. SomeLost Arkplayerssay that the story isn’t worth watching the cutscenes anyway, while others say that watching the same cutscene for the 100th time will make anyone want to skip them.
There are points on both sides worth considering. In a perfect world,Lost Arkwouldn’t have put cutscenes into the middle of dungeons, a design choiceFinal Fantasy 14originally made and then stopped doing in its expansions, too. As it exists, however, players will hopefully be kind to each other regardless of whether they want to watch cutscenes or not.
