YouTube streamer Ludwig Ahgren started his ownValorantteam under Moist Esports.Ludwig joined the esports organization in January as co-owner, alongside Moist founder and fellow content creator Charles “MoistCr1TiKaL” White Jr.Since being established in 2021, Moist Esports hascompeted inRocket League, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Guilty Gear Strive, Super Smash Bros Melee, Brawlhalla,and most recently,Apex Legends. Upon joining Moist as co-owner, Ludwig expressed that he wanted to start his ownValorantteam, but admitted that it would be tough because of how competitive it can be as many players often wait a whole year to compete again after getting knocked out from tournaments. It consists of members of unsignedValorantNA Challengers team Breakthru, namely Brady “thief” DeverAlex “aproto” Protopapas, Xavier “flyuh” Carlson, Brock “brawk” Somerhalder, and Tyler “sym” Porter.
Many fans, content creators, and pro players congratulated Ludwig and Moist Moguls on the signing, saying that they’re excited to see them in the nextValorantplayoffs. Some fans want to see Moist Moguls go up against Jeremy “Disguised Toast” Wang’s team, Disguised, in the playoffs, but it might just happen sooner as Ludwig already challenged the team to a show match where the losing owner has to shave his head. Meanwhile, others said they thoughtValorantplayer Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker, who reportedly left Cloud9, was signed to Moist Moguls after he changed his Twitter bio. But after Ludwig’s roster announcement, yay seemed to have been “trolling” fans.
Previously, Ludwig said that he joined Moist Esports as co-owner because of his love for esports. He would express this passion through tournaments like the “Ludwig x Tarik Invitational,” a North AmericanValorantLAN event featuring professional teams TSM,The Guard, T1, and Sentinels. Now that he’s signed Moist Moguls, he’ll get to watch his team compete in the nextValorantChampionship Tournament (VCT) circuit.
It’s also understandable for manyValorantfans to be worried about the team staying together after getting knocked out early from the VCTs, which was a similar fear Disguised Toast had for his team. Esports fans have seen this situation happen many times as orgs would drop players and even entire teams, likeTSM’s femaleValorantroster, after falling short in tournaments. They still have to wait and see how Moist Moguls will perform and place in their debut matches. Whether they stay signed with Moist after losing will ultimately be Ludwig and the company’s call.
