Found on the Palette Prime Planet, the Bury the Hatchet is a 20- to 30-minute side quest inMario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. It is about retrieving Sweetlopek’s stolen axe by interrogating suspects. But things get a little bit too Sherlock Holmes-ish midway, which confuses many players. With this complete walkthrough, however,everyone can solve the mysteryand bring back the missing hatchet with no hassle.

How to Beat the Bury the Hatchet Quest
After talking to Sweetlopek inMario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, the lumberjack, meet up with Vampastra at Paletteville, track down The Songbird and The Fork, and finally, investigate Hinky’s house to retrieve the lost axe. But, note that the Bury the Hatchet side quest ends only after finishing the Darkness Battle in Hinky’s house.
Here’s a step-by-step walkthrough:
1. Meet Up with Vampastra at Paletteville
The Bury the Hatchetside quest starts after discovering Sweetlopek, the lumberjack located to the south of the spaceship. Right after that, players should head to Paletteville and look for Vampastra; it’s a floating purple Spark near the tallest building in the village.
2. Talk to the Rabbid in the Pumpkin House
Vampastra says the first suspect resides in the pumpkin house—but not the one it’s hanging around. Players should head back to Paletteville’s entrance and investigate the other pumpkin house. Here, they will find another suspect named The Songbird, who lives in a distinctive house.
3. Track Down the Songbird and the Fork
First, enter the house that has lots of crows flying around. This is the Songbird’s house, but no one’s home. So, read the diary on the table and head out. Next, enter the other Rabbid house with a bunch of garden forks outside. Again, no one is home. So, read the journal and leave.
4. Find and Retrieve a Magic Whetstone to The Fork
Go to the beach north of Paletteville and talk to The Fork—look for a Rabbid with a garden fork. He asks for aMagic Whetstone in exchange for more clues. And the only way to get one for him is by following Vampastra. Once it extracts the whetstone, bring it back to The Fork.
5. Investigate Hinky’s House
Go back to where Mario and Vampastra met, the tallest house in Paletteville. This is where the thief resides. If a dialogue box showed up after knocking on the door, choose “The Dryad” and enter the house to confront Hinky.
6. Finish the Darkness Battle and Get the Axe
Inside Hinky’s house,players must enter a portalthat takes them to the Darkness Battle. It’s a multi-level mission that takes about 20 minutes to complete. And it rewards players with the missing hatchet as well as a new Spark, Vampastra. Note that the only way to beat the Bury the Hatchet mission is by finishing the Darkness Battle—so it’s not an optional fight.
