If there’s one game that will go down in history as an influential entry that helped bring joy to millions and capture the imagination of its fan base, it’sMinecraft. From its humble beginnings back in 2009, with just one person being responsible for its development, theMicrosoft owned sandbox title is responsible for an endless array ofMinecraftcreations. Unsurprisingly, the game has warranted its own convention, which switched to an online event last year, and the date for the nextMinecraft Livebroadcast has been announced recently.
Posting an update, and a video, to the officialMinecraftsite, the live event will be coming to a plethora of personal devices this October. Specifically, the date that’s been announced is October 16, with the times being 9am PDT, 12pm EDT, and 5pm BST. The live show is a chance for the studio to announce any new updates and will offer a chance for the community to have its say. The event will be shown on YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook. There will also be some additional information on the website in the run-up to the event.

The video posted is a humorous and blocky take on a retro-style public service announcement. While it doesn’t go into any specifics about what the event will feature, it does talk about the fact thatthe community will get to vote on newMinecraftmobs. Outside that, the website says the broadcast will feature some news, content creators, and there will be a pre-show as well.
For those who are unaware,Minecraft Liveis essentially the online version of theMineConconvention, which was an annual event hosted by Mojang. It’s been going since 2010, just before the game went into beta. Naturally, the reason for the move to an online-only convention was due to the pandemic. Similar to this year, last year’s announcement promisedMinecraftnews, input from creators, community participation, and even teased the event with a trailer. In 2020, the event announced the “Caves & Cliffs” update, so it remains to be seen what big patch will get a mention this year.
The sheer enormity of the game’s success cannot be understated. Even before the studio was bought by Microsoft in 2014,Minecrafthas been the poster child for infinite replayabilityand inspiring endless ways for players to create and build. It’s anybody’s guess as to what will happen atMinecraft Livethis year, but it will be exciting to find out what’s coming next to the open world title.
Minecraftis available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The live event will be going ahead on October 16.
