Rumors have been swirling for some time that Capcom was preparing to release a newMonster Huntergame for the Nintendo Switch. And during the latestNintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase presentation, it turned out those rumors were true. Capcom has officially announcedMonster Hunter Riseas a Nintendo Switch exclusive game.
TheMonster Hunter Risetrailer showcased advanced movement techniques for theMonster Hunterfranchise, with players able to speed across the world on the back of a dog, which was also able to climb up walls. A grappling hook was also seen, givingMonster Hunterplayers unprecedented exploration capabilities.

Besides showing off advanced exploration and movement techniques, theMonster Hunter Risetraileralso gave fans a look at some of the monsters they will be hunting in the game. This includes the bird-like Aknosom, Tetranadon, Great Izuchi, and the terrifying Magnamalo. Needless to say, those that enjoyedMonster Hunter Worldor any of the other games in the series should be right at home here, as it looks likeMonster Hunter Risewill have no shortage of over-the-top battles against intimidating monsters.
Besides showing off the different kinds of monsters players will encounter in the game, theMonster Hunter Risetrailer also hinted at some other features. Players are given a glimpse at the variousMonster Hunterweaponsthat they will have access to in the game, which should support a variety of different playstyles.
It also looks as thoughMonster Hunter Risewill retain the co-op gameplay that the franchise is known for. At various points in theMonster Hunter Risetrailer, it shows players teaming with others to complete hunts and take down monsters, so it seems as though that important aspect of the long-running franchise will indeed remain intact.
As it turns out, theMonster Hunter Riseleakfrom earlier has turned out to be mostly true. Pretty much everything claimed in the leak, from the game’s new traversal mechanics to the different monsters players will face, were verified by theMonster Hunter Riseannouncement trailer. However, there’s still more that has yet to be revealed.
Nintendo confirmed during its Nintendo Direct Mini that aMonster HunterDirect presentation will take place immediately afterwards. Lasting about 10 minutes long, fans can expect even more specific details about what they can expect fromMonster Hunter Riseduring its specific Direct. It’s possible more information on theMonster Hunterseries in general will also be made available, so fans should stay tuned.
