Set during the Mandalorian Wars, nearly 4,000 years before theStar Warsprequel trilogy, theKnights of the Old Republicis an RPG that was originally released in 2003. The announcement of a modern take on the classic title was met with a lot of excitement, particularly as Aspyr Media was set to be the developer. Interestingly, curious fans have recently noticed that the official 2021 trailer for the much-anticipatedKnight of the Old Republicremake has gone private on YouTube. While the developer has yet to make any official comment on the matter, many are already beginning to surmise that a cancelation may be on the cards. Of course, removing the official trailer from public view in itself doesn’t mean the project is getting scrapped for certain. In fact, some speculate that a re-reveal may be happening since the original trailer only attributed Aspyr as the developer. With the title moving to Saber Interactive, some fans believe that it may have undergone enough changes to garner a brand-new trailer.

However, it doesn’t help that Embracer Group has refused to make any official remarks about the game during the past few months. Back in May during an investor call, Embracer Group CEOLars Wingefors refused to comment about theKnights of the Old Republicremakewhen inquired about its current progress. Previously, industry insider Jeff Grubb claimed that the game may never be released. Now it looks like fans might not have to wait longer for an official update.

It’s also worth noting that things haven’t gone Embracer’s way as of late. Recently, it was revealed that the company had failed to secure a $2 billion arrangement with Saudi Arabia-backed Savvy Gaming Group, prompting studio closures, project cancelations, and layoffs. The situation is notable enough that theEmbracer Group is reportedly looking to sell Gearbox, the developer behind the popularBorderlandsIP. In any case, it remains to be seen if the much-anticipatedKnights of the Old Republicremake has fallen victim to the company’s effort at restructuring itself.
