Shazam! Fury of the Godsis the sequel to 2019’sShazam.Shazam!stars Asher Angelas Billy Batson, a young boy in the foster system who finds himself in control of powers that allow him to channel various god-like abilities. ScreenRantdropped the new poster forShazam! Fury of the Gods' ScreenX release. The poster features Billy in his superhero form front and center as he’s flanked by the wizard who gave him his powers - also named Shazam (Djimon Honsou) - and the film’s two villains, Hespera (Helen Mirren) and Kalypso (Lucy Liu). Hespera and Kalypso’s sister, Anthea (Rachel Zegler), stands slightly off to the side, while Billy’s foster family frames the bottom of the poster in their superhero forms.
The poster was designed forShazam! Fury of the Gods' ScreenX theatrical release. ScreenX is a special format which allows the audience to immerse themselves in the film. A 270-degree screen, designed specifically for use in ScreenX releases, displays the film around the viewer, as though they’re a part of the film itself. The format brings audiences closer to the action, so when Shazam is gliding above the city, audiences will feel it on a much deeper level.
Zegler’s role as Anthea inShazam 2is, ironically, highlighted by her placement in the film’s poster. Though all three are daughters of Atlas, only Kalypso and Hespera are given the same prominence as Shazam himself. The fact that Anthea is given a smaller portion of the poster, and that she isn’t placed on the same level as Shazam, could mean that she’s set to ally with Shazam against her sisters. Of course, it’s also possible that Anthea will betray Shazam, or change her allegiance after seeing her sister’s plans, but her placement in the poster is clearly meant to differentiate her character from that of her sisters.
Amid the ever-shifting plans for a reboot of the DCU,currently being led by James Gunn, the film could possibly be the last in the current iteration of the franchise. Gunn has yet to comment on the series' future in the DCU, and his current slate makes no mention of a futureShazam!entry. Whatever the case may be, it looks likeShazam! Fury of the Godsis going to bring Shazam back for another crowd-pleasing adventure.
Shazam! Fury of the Godsis scheduled to be released in theaters on June 28, 2025.
