Remedy Entertainment’sControlgame has a surprising number ofAlan Wakeconnections, with the two games actually existing in the same universe. FutureControlDLC will take those connections further, with the AWE expansion directly dealing with the events ofAlan Wakeand offering a more detailed explanation as to the fate of the title character and exactly what happened at the end of that game.
This was confirmed by Remedy’s Sam Lake, who said thatControl’s AWE DLC will offer more insight into the supernatural events depicted inAlan Wake. “I can say that you will find out more about The Bureau’s research on what happened inAlan Wakeand where they are with it today,” Lake revealed in an interview with Game Informer.

Control’s AWE DLC will mark the second major paid expansion released for the game.Expansion 1: The Foundationreleased on PC and PlayStation 4 back in March, and is coming to Xbox One on June 25. Expansion 1: The Foundation seesControlprotagonist Jesse explore the bottom of The Oldest House in search of Helen Marshall, who went to check on something at The Oldest House’s Foundation during the events of the base game.
ControlExpansion 1: The Foundation was well-received by fans and critics alike, and so hopes are high forAWE. Specific details on what AWE will entail beyond focusing onAlan Wakeare unavailable at the time of this writing, but there’s potential that it could open up theControlexperience in a big way.
The small snippet of art released forControlExpansion 2: AWE seems to show Jesse exploring Bright Falls, the location ofAlan Wake. This would offer a significant change of scenery than what fans are used to from The Oldest House. However, that’s just speculation at this time, and it’s possible that the game will still be set mainly in The Oldest House as opposed to branching out to other areas.
In future, it will be interesting to see what Remedy Entertainment makes next.Remedy is teaming with Epic Gameswhen it comes to publishing its future games, but it’s unclear if they will be new IP or sequels to its existing franchises.
