Summary
Sometimes, inspiration can come from the strangest places, and there would be few better examples of this happening than ifAnimal Crossingpulled ideas fromDestiny 2. With the former being a cozy title where players craft the perfect living space for themselves and some adorable animals, and the latter being a looter shooter where players kill gods and get into gunfights on several planets, it is hard to imagine Nintendo looking atDestiny 2for inspiration. However, there are actually a few things that the nextAnimal Crossingcan take fromDestiny 2, as odd as that may seem.
Obviously, Nintendo has some more obvious ways to improve its nextAnimal Crossingtitle. Fans have suggested multiple save files, a craft all button, and a villager rework to give them deeper personalities, unique animations, and so on. Beyond this, players have pushed for certainAnimal CrossingNPCsto return, bringing fresh activities along with them. Still, there are a few things thatDestiny 2does particularly well that would fit nicely in the nextAnimal Crossing, such as multiplayer emotes and seasonal challenges, and the next game should consider bringing them in.
Destiny 2’s Emotes and Challenges Would Suit Animal Crossing
Multiplayer Emotes Would Be Great Fun in Animal Crossing
Destiny 2’s Eververse storeis packed with exciting cosmetics that range from gorgeous weapon ornaments to armor sets and ship designs. However, though Bungie has some fun with certain Ghost shells, projections, sparrows, where it really lets loose is with the game’s emote selection.Destiny 2offers dozens of great emotes that feature references to popular movies, dances, and memes, as well as some fully original animations for players’ guardians. Some of the best emotes take full advantage of the title’s multiplayer focus, as they allow players to interact with each other.
Destiny 2’s multiplayer emotes see players engaging in coordinated dance moves, playing in a pool, sitting on a couch and gaming together, and so on. There are many fun animations to be found that focus on two or three players, and this is somethingAnimal Crossingcould make use of. Currently, players can pull off a number of emotes with their characters, but these only involve one player. In the next game, emotes that see players interacting with others could be added. In online play, gamers could hug, play rock paper scissors, andcoordinate dance moves just like inDestiny. Even better, Nintendo could allow players to use emotes with the animal Villagers found throughout players’ towns, correcting aNew Horizonscomplaint about there not being enough things to do with Villagers.
WhileAnimal Crossing’s wandsletting players store a handful of outfits at once is a decent compromise, giving players access to all of their attires whenever they want them would be better. Just likeDestiny 2, being able to access every outfit piece from the menu (or Nookphone) without returning home would be a welcome quality-of-life feature.
Seasonal Challenges Could Shake Up The Nook Miles Hunt
Beyond just some fun emotes that increase the interactions with Villagers and other players,Destiny 2’s seasonal challenge model could be adapted to give players new tasks to work on. While the daily Nook Miles challenges are a nice stand-in forDestiny 2’s bounties, and the bigger Nook Miles tasks likecatchingNew Horizons’ fishwithout making a mistake provide long-term goals, the game could use something to keep players coming back regularly instead of playing in bursts. Something likeDestiny 2’s seasonal challenges could be a great way to do this, as every week, Nintendo could add 5 special tasks to complete that are somewhere in between the milestones and daily activities in terms of difficulty. Players could get a smaller reward for finishing all 5, such as Bells or extra Nook Miles, while a rare outfit piece or furniture item could be unlocked if gamers finish all the weekly challenges for the month.
