Weight Explained in Once Human

The first time players will be able to manage their weight is during the character creation process inOnce Human. It is largely controlled by the player’s fitness level stat. Though the player’s overall weight may appear to be a simple cosmetic choice on the surface, adjusting the player’s weight actually offers its own buffs and debuffs. Below is a breakdown of how the player’s weight impacts their stats:

Below 65kg

Above 85kg

Each weight category is tailored to a different play style. For instance, if players want to be fast and agile, they can opt for a weight below 65kg. On the other hand, if players want to max out their melee damage and carrying capacity, then they can go for a weight value of 86kg or above.

Before choosing their weight, however, players are advised to consider the cons of each weight category as well. As of right now, the all-around most balanced weight value falls between 65kg and 85kg, as it offers fairly few drawbacks.

How To Change Weight

While setting up the player’s fitness level during the initial phase of the game determines their starting weight, weight can actually be altered throughout the game via a few different factors. For players looking to gain a few extra pounds on their character, regularlyeating foodswith the Muscle-Building effect will increase weight. Such foods includeFrench Friesand fish and chips. On the other hand, if players want to dip into the lower-weight categories, they can try one of the following methods.

The first is to simplyeat any food that causes Gastric Discomfort, such asRaw Meat, spoiled food, or dirty water. Gastric Discomfort will cause the player to lose weight over time, along with introducing some other temporary debuffs. Once the player reaches their desired weight, they cancure the effect withAntibiotics, which can be crafted via theSupplies Workbench. The second is to consume food, likeFat-Burning Juice, that offers theWeight Watching effect.

Alternatively, players can alsochange their weight by respeccing their fitness levelwhenchanging their appearance at the Floor Mirror. Doing so will cost Chrysalis Tokens, but can save players a lot of time and effort.
