Summary
Blackbeard is one of the most importantOne Piececharacters, especially in the Final Saga, where his role is going to be especially pronounced. Introduced in the story quite early, Blackbeard was always the antithesis of Luffy, yet, at the same time, gunning for the same goal as him. Blackbeard was once on Whitebeard’s ship, however, he defected when he thought the opportunity was right, and ever since then, he has only been growing in terms of prominence.
Currently, he’s one of the Emperors of the Sea, with a bounty of 3.996 billion berries, and a level of infamy that never seems to be stopping in terms of growth. Blackbeard is quite a special individual, and, recently, his special lineage was hinted at in the story as well. It is clear for the fans to see that Blackbeard has a very special lineage that is sure to come into play in the latter half of One Piece’s final saga.
Is Blackbeard From A Special Race?
When one hears of special lineage, mostOne Piecefans often draw comparisons to a special race. After all, there are many special races in theOne Pieceworld, two of which have been recently elaborated upon quite a lot, with both of them having very special abilities up their sleeve. The first of these races was the Lunarian race, which fans saw for the first time towards the end of Wano, thanks to King. The Lunarian race was revealed to be a special race of winged people who had brown skin, white hair, black wings on their back with a flame, which, when burning, gave them nigh high defense that cannot be penetrated, and, when it turns off, speed that is incredibly difficult to counter. The Lunarians were once known to be Gods and, 400 years ago, they sat atop the Red Line, where the Holy Land of Marijoa currently is. This race seems to have been exterminated by the World Government, with King being the last survivor of their kind. However, they are now resurgent, thanks to Dr. Vegapunk, who has created the Seraphims and has infused them with their Lineage Factor.
At the same time, another race that has been recently introduced inOne Pieceis that of the Buccaneers. The buccaneers are believed to be somewhat of a mix between a giant and a human, however, they are unlike either. The Buccaneers are known to carry the blood of the giants in their veins, which gives them terrific strength, endurance, durability, and other things. The Buccaneers also possessed a special power that has not been revealed to the fans just yet. However, regardless of what way fans look at it,the Buccaneers are very special. This is largely due to their connection to the Sun God, Nika. Fans know that Nika existed long ago in the One Piece world, before Luffy awakened the power of Gear 5. It appears that the Buccaneers were very close to Nika from that time. Perhaps, Nika himself might have been a Buccaneer, and that is why this race was exterminated by the World Government. Kuma is known to be the last known survivor of the Buccaneer race.
InOne Piecechapter 1107, Saint Saturn was confronted by two ship captains of the Blackbeard pirates. These were the Sixth Ship Captain, Catarina Devon, and of course, the Third Ship Captain, Van Augur. When Saturn questioned them and asked why they were following Teach, Devon responded by saying Teach is special. Saturn was apparently already aware of Teach’s special bloodline and that is what he made known to them. Naturally, one would think of Teach as belonging to a special race – especially after the likes of the Lunarians in the Buccaneers were mentioned in One Piece rather recently. While that might be a fair assumption, Teach, whomany believe to be a Buccaneer, cannot be from this race. This is simply down to the fact that Saturn himself called Kuma the last of the Buccaneer kind on Egghead Island, despite being aware of Teach’s special bloodline. This means that Teach is not from the Buccaneer race, despite what many fans would like to believe.
Blackbeard’s Special Bloodline
While Blackbeard is not from the Buccaneer race or possibly from any special race in theOne Pieceworld, that certainly does not mean that this particular individual does not hail from a special bloodline. Bloodline doesn’t necessarily mean a special race. It can also mean a special connection to a certain ancestor. In the case of Blackbeard, this appears to be the case. Blackbeard is from the Marshall D. Family, and it is entirely possible that some of his ancestors were special. One particular individual whom Blackbeard seems to draw a lot of connections to is Captain Rocks. Although Rocks belongs to the Rocks D. family, it is possible that he himself had connections to the Marshall D’s, or Blackbeard’s mother was the one responsible for naming him.
Regardless, Blackbeard draws certain connections to Rocks and this is evident from the fact that his own ship is named after him. Blackbeard’s ship is called the Saber of the Xebec, which is clearly a direct reference to Captain Rocks. At the same time,One Piecechapter 1107 gave fans an idea of what Blackbeard’s true goal was. As mentioned by Van Augur and Devon, the Blackbeard Pirates aim to conquer the entire world. This is the same goal that Rocks D. Xebec had as well.He wanted to be the king of the world, and now, Blackbeard wants to do the same, and at the same time, he has named his ship after Xebec as well. Perhaps, the special bloodline that he has is directly tied to Rocks. With so many similarities, it is no surprise that even the likes of Saturn are wary of Teach and know what he’s capable of.
That said, Blackbeard is special in other ways as well. Fans know that he’s the only person inOne Piececapable of eating multiple Devil Fruits. This does imply that his people, or he, in particular, has a special power that allows him to make this possible. However, so far, fans are not aware of any special race having powers such as this. Perhaps, the people of the Marshall D’s had special abilities, or, perhaps, Blackbeard was experimented upon by someone to have multiple hearts to hold various abilities. Regardless,Blackbeard’s bloodline is directly tied to his powers, his ambition, and his ultimate goal inOne Piece, and fans are incredibly excited to see his story progress further from here onwards. Given that the final saga ofOne Pieceis progressing with great intensity, Blackbeard will be in action sooner than expected, and fans will most definitely get to the root of his special lineage sooner rather than later.
