One Pieceis going places and is currently one of the most-watched shonen anime series that are still running. The main reason whyOne Piecehas a large fan base is that it beats the notion of shonen anime going stale with their story and the story arcs. One Piece’s story only gets better with every new arc, its plot has numerous layers waiting which get stripped down bit by bit as the story proceeds with new arcs. Besides this,One Piece’s story has some of the pirate world’s best-kept secrets or mysteries.
The most mysterious one is the identity of the mastermind and the leader of the World Government who holdsthe ultimate power and authorityin the world, Lord Imu. Imu rules the world from behind the curtains as he does not want the world to know his real identity or similar reasons. Imu’s ultimate authority reflects in the fact that he is the one who orders the Gorosei or the five elders that head who are the highest-ranking celestial dragons and form the head of the state for the World Government. Even though his real identity remains unknown, there are a few options one of which could be his possible real identity.

Imu Is Rocks D. Xebec
The biggest and perhaps themost notorious pirate captainin the pirate world ofOne Piece, Rocks D. Xebec, also happens to be one ofOne Piece’s biggest mysteries. Although Oda has shared some information about Rocks and his crew in the past, there is still little known about him. His legend started after his defeat during the God Valley incident. Oda revealed about him that he was one of the biggest pirates of all time, and he wanted to rule the entire world to do so he went to God Valley, an island located somewhere in the world that had celestial dragons on it who Rocks waged a war against. Rocks attacked the God Valley and his crew was one of the most formidable pirate crews in the world with futureYonkos like Whitebeard, Big Mom, Kaido, and some other famous pirates like Shiki the Golden Lion as its members.
The situation became so grave that the marines had to team up with the Roger Pirates with Monkey D. Garp and Gol D. Roger ending the battle by defeating Rocks and his crew. This whole event came to be known as the God Valley Incident. According to one fan theory, it is speculated that Rocks survived thebattle of the God Valley Incident, and he eventually got his hands on some ultimate power with which he actualized his dream of ruling the world. It is also speculated that he actualized his dream by putting on an alias and creating a completely different identity which is of Lord Imu.
Imu Is An Ancient Weapon
The biggest mystery inOne Pieceapart from the real identity of Lord Imu is the Void Century. It is a secret that is guarded by the marines and the World Government. The Void Century is a century-long gapin the written and archeological history that is prohibited to study by the World Government. The incidents that occurred in the Void Century are supposed to be of the highest value so much so that one is supposed to become truly aware of the actual history of the world just by learning about them. Along with other things, three ancient weapons existed during the Void Century that are said to have godly power. These were first mentioned in the story byNico Robin in her conversation with King Neptunewhere she stated the existence of three ancient weapons during the Void Century that bear the names of the gods.
These three ancient weapons were called Uranus, Poseidon, and Pluton. They are supposed to come into existence again when it is thetime for the next Joy Boy’s birth as he would use these ancient weapons to liberate and unite the entire world. Fans ofOne Piececame up with a fan theory that speculates Imu to be the ancient weapon Uranus. As seen in the manga and anime, the daughter of King Neptune and the princess of the Ryugu Kingdom princess Shirahoshi is supposed to be the weapon Poseidon. And it is quite possible that the ancient weapon Uranus is also a person. Therefore, fans suspect Imu to be the ancient weapon Uranus. This fan theory got some concreteness after thedisplay of destructible powers of Lord Imuwas shown in the manga where he completely blasted an entire island out of existence.
The above-mentioned contenders for the possible real identity of Lord Imu are all just based on fan theories at the moment. They can only be confirmed or rejected once Oda makes the great reveal in the future which would surely turn out to be the biggest reveal or twist in the story ofOne Piece.
