The massive Invasion update forOverwatch 2brings a ton of new cosmetic and gameplay content, and fans have a lot to say both about what these skins got right and what they’re lacking, such as missing voice filters for some. This major content update forOverwatch 2finally kicks off the PvE story missions featuring a relentless army of Omnic forces, so it’s no big surprise that a few of the game’s most popular heroes have received skins that make them fit right into the robotic army.

This isn’t the first timeOverwatch 2has dabbled in designing Omnic skins for its existing heroes, though such skins are certainly a focus this season. Pharah, Symmetra, Ana, Cassidy, and Kiriko have each received an Omnic skin this season, despite not all of them being available in the current battle pass. While these skins give these characters entirely new looks, many fans think they could still be taken much further. A post on Reddit from the user FG96 points out how, unlike Ana’s new Mythic skin, the other Omnic skins lack any kind of voice filter befitting of their synthetic visage. It wouldn’t be the first timeOverwatch 2skins have modified a hero’s sound effects, with some cosmetics even adding unique lines of dialogue too.
Many fans are already curious if more skins of the same nature are to come in future seasons as well, with players curious to see how far these sorts of cosmetics could really go. While the Legendary Omnic skins may be underwhelming for some, Blizzard has already proven it can take Omnic characters further with Ana’s new Mythic Wargod skin. This representsOverwatch 2’s latest and perhaps even greatest Mythic-quality item, with the skin including an eerie voice filter to the character, adding a variety of new lines of dialogue, and providing a fully-customizable design just like the other Mythic skins before it.
Cosmetics inOverwatch 2have been a particularly controversial topicamong fans since the launch of the game, with players having few methods of earning cosmetics for free and instead being forced to purchase them from the in-game shop instead. The advent of Mythic skins has proven that there are a lot of possibilities open to Blizzard though, leaving many fans to wonder what the future holds.
Overwatch 2is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
