Summary

AsOverwatch 2Season 8 is now in full swing, there has been substantial content to explore and engage with over the past few weeks. This has included the addition ofMauga, the newest tank hero, Hard Light weapon skins, and a Call of the Hunt-themed battle pass. In alignment with Season 8’s theme, a limited-time game mode called “Battle of the Beasts” was released from December 5 to December 19.

This isn’t the first timeOverwatch 2has launched a thrilling LTM arcade mode, and it likely won’t be its last. However, what’s made Battle of the Beasts stand out from modes like Battle for Olympus or Roadhog’s Catch-A-Mari is its 4v4 PvPvE experience. Unfortunately, like most themed events, it appears the game mode is going to be removed after it’s run its two-week course.

Battle of the Beasts is Too Good To Be Discarded After One Event

IfOverwatch 2doesn’t want to continue the disappointing trend of leaving limited-time events in the void, Blizzard should consider bringing the arcade mode back in the future. Fortunately, it was recently announced that the prop hunt mode that originally debuted in Season 5,Mischief and Magic, will return inOverwatch 2Season 8. The 5v5 hide-and-seek mode initially took place in Blizzard World, but to coincide with the Lunar New Year, it’s set to be revitalized on Lijiang Night Market.

Of course, should the developers decide to reintroduce Battle of the Beasts, a few alterations would be necessary to ensure a fresh and engaging experience. Perhaps the game mode could take place onNew Junk City’s sister map: Suravasa. Even more enticingly, Blizzard could replace Orisa with a giant Winston, considering that the intelligent gorilla is one of the most popular characters in the franchise.

Regardless of how the game could be reinvented, it’s undetermined whether Blizzard is considering another run for Battle of the Beasts. It truly would be a shame if two weeks was all this highly competitive game mode got. Thankfully, those who haven’t had time to complete the challenges still have a few more days to collect their in-game rewards.
