WithinPhasmophobia, there are 7 Cursed Items that players can acquire. Each Cursed Item inPhasmophobiaresults in some advantages to the player, and others to the ghost, all in the hopes of identifying what entity haunts the contract location, so that everyone can get out of there whilst they are still alive. One of the creepiest Cursed Possessions inPhasmophobiais by far the Ouija Board.

The Ouija Board is demonic in essence and has plagued paranormal investigators for decades. However, when it makes its way toPhasmophobia, players will be able to use their voice chat function to talk to the ghost in the hopes of interacting with it. All Ouija Board questions inPhasmophobiacan result in dire consequences, so it’s best to know how to use the Ouija Board inPhasmophobiato avoid death and frights.
How To Use The Ouija Board
There is a 1 in 7 chance that players will find the Ouija Board within each contract forPhasmophobia. When players find one, they can pick it up just like any other item. This Cursed Possession inPhasmophobiautilizes voice commands, meaning the player can talk to the Ouija Board for answers. To activate it, players need to place the circle on the board to indicate they are ready tocommune with the paranormal.
Now that the circular dial is on the board, players can ask a question to the ghost, to which the ghost will write a reply letter by letter. If players have seen enough, it is essential that they say “Goodbye” to end the communion with the Ouija Board. In doing so, they can avoid a ghost hunt, as well as a cursed ghost hunt if the Ouija Board breaks, which can occur if the player interacts with the Ouija Board with too low Sanity. When asking a question and receiving an answer, Sanity can drain rather fast, which will further influence a ghost hunt.
All Ouija Board Questions
There are around 13 different types of questions that the player can ask the ghost. Each will receive a unique response considering each ghost type is random upon starting the contract. It’s also worth noting that players can use the EMF Reader whilst using the Ouija Board, as an EMF Level 5 reading may activate, providing one piece of Evidence that players need.
There are some questions players can ask as a joke, to obtain information, or even start a hunt to troll their friends. Here’s every Ouija Board question inPhasmophobiaand what they do:
Whilst there are many variations on the phrases listed below, these are the most basic and common sayings that will net the players' identical results if they ask for a different variation of what is listed. This means that players can ask the questions or phrases below as they are written, or with some variation to the dialogue, but as long as the game registers the audio as similar phrases, it should answer correctly.

“Where Are You?”
Asking this question will inform players of the location of the ghost. This is an expensive Sanity question, as it will consume 50% player’s Sanity upon asking, simply because this is one of the best questions to ask the ghost. It has a high chance of locating the ghost room, but it could misdirect players by providing an answer for where the ghost currently is, and it may be roaming.
“Who Did You Kill?”
One of the more obscure questions players can ask the ghost will be in regard to the victim, and the reason that the ghost hunters have been contracted to discover what spirit lurks in this place. Asking this question will provide an answer thatdoesn’t offer muchoutside of some lore for the mission.
“Are You Close?”
For a 20% Sanity drain, players can ask this question to the ghost to get a basic yes or no answer. This question will inform players whether the ghost is next to the player, or somewhere else in the house. It’s a creepy question to ask, especially if the reply is “yes”, implying the ghost is in the same room.
“Where Did You Die?”
There are a few collectibles inPhasmophobiathat can look pretty nice in the player’s collection. One of them is a bone, which will always spawn in every mission. Asking this question will inform players of the room that the bone can be located in, but there is a 50% Sanity drain.
“Hide And Seek”
Asking the ghost to play Hide and Seek is a risky one, but it could be fun to those unsuspecting of such a crime. Players can troll their friends with this request, as the ghost will count down from 5 and begin a cursed hunt to look for and kill the players who are not hiding.
“Do You Talk To Everyone?”
On harder difficulties, checking the overview for the mission will provide an unsure answer on whether the ghost will talk to everyone or not. This can make the Spirit Box harder to use, as it will not be clear if players can be alone or not when trying tocommune with the ghost through audiorather than the Ouija Board. However, when asking this question, and for 20% less Sanity, players can get an answer from the ghost through yes or no, determining if the ghost is shy or not about who it talks to.
“How Old Are You?”
Another fun lore question to ask the ghost is asking its age. The ghost can be anywhere from 2 years old to 90. Asking the ghost its age on the Ouija Board is also a great thing to do when expecting the spirit to be a Thaye, as a Thaye will age over time. This means that the age will change, whereas other ghosts will not.
“When Did You Die?”
Another 5% Sanity drain question to ask is when the ghost died. Asking a question along these lines will provide players with a numbered answer, so they can see how old the ghost is. The number can be between 50 and 1000, so players might bedealing with a very old ghost.
“What Is My Sanity?”
Asking a question about Sanity is probably a good idea, especially since it only consumes 5% of their Sanity. It’s a good question to ask the ghost when one wants to find out their Sanity, especially before asking an expensive Sanity question that could break the board and start a cursed hunt. Determining the Sanity of the player gives the player a good estimation of whether it’s wise to say goodbye to the ghost or continue, or, find a hiding spot fast.

“How Did You Die?”
There are multiple ways that the ghost died. These lore reasons are as creepy as they sound, and the ghost will confess to the way it died to the player, confiding in its death for the cost of 5% Sanity. The cause of death can be listed as an accident, drowned, choked, murdered, shot, fell and slipped, which leaves terrifying implications as towho this spirit was in the past life.
“How Do You Feel?”
Asking this question shouldn’t fool the player, as despite how the ghost feels, it will always try and kill the player during a hunt, so being a friend is out of the question here. However, asking this question will provide players with an insight into the emotions of this paranormal entity, and the ghost can answer either: cold, empty, strong, weak, angry, sick, or hurt.
“What Do You Want?”
Players can try and discover a purpose for the ghost, but not like a profound therapist for the spirit, but instead to warn themselves and their friends as to what the ghost wants, and ask why it is haunting this specific spot. Much like the question on the ghost’s feelings, the purpose of the ghost will always be to kill, even if it answers the following: love, scared, revenge, you, hatred, kill, peace, trapped, lonely, lost.
Jokes
There are some fun dialogue choices that players can ask the ghost that will cost them 5% Sanity. It’s probably not worth asking these, but it’sa fun Easter eggthat the developers have acknowledged within the game. Players can say to the ghost “Knock Knock” to which the ghost will write on the Ouija Board “Who’s there”. It’s fun to see this interaction, and the same goes for a “Marco” and “Polo” back and forth. However, the ghost is still hostile, and despite the bonding, it will still try and kill players.
Miscellaneous
On top of the numerous questions that can be asked, there are some irrelevant questions that have been programmed into the game that do not offer much, but are there just so players can mess around. Asking something like “Are we friends?” will provide a yes or no answer, but either answer will be creepy with the implication that thisghost wants to kill the player.
Phasmophobiais out on PC, with a PS5 and Xbox Series X/S release scheduled for August 2023.
