These games are obscure classics that deserve a second chance to be re-worked and re-released into the new market.
PlayStation’s new premium subscription would be the perfect place to bring back some lesser-known or cult classic PlayStation games and introduce them to the online library in the new PlayStation Plus streaming service. Here are some obscure PlayStation 1 games that need to be remastered and reintroduced to a new generation.
8Legend Of Dragoon
Legend of Dragoonwas an ambitious RPG by Japan Studio. It was a turned-based game that included quick time events, which were very fresh features that had yet to be implemented commonly in the video game industry.Legend of Dragoontook place in a mystical fantasy world filled with various races such as Elves, Dragons, and Winglies. Players take control of several protagonists, the focus being Dart. During a random attack on his village, Dart discovers a power within himself to transform into a dragon as he tries to save his family and friends. Dart sets out on a journey to find the black monster and prevent the god of destruction from returning.
Legend of Dragoonwas highly praised for its story, gameplay, and musical composition, but was overshadowed by other games of the genre, such as theFinal Fantasyseries andThe Legend of Zeldafranchise. Over the years, the game’s community has dwindled, and the title itself has become left behind. It deserves a chance to be rediscovered.
Rapid Reloadis a single-player side-scrolling shooter game created by Media Vision, published and released on PlayStation in 1995. Players could choose one of two main characters, Axel or Ruka, and take on challenging levels and exciting enemies with a variety of weapons and skills.

Rapid Reloadwas a fantastic game but was always one step behindGunstarHeroes, a game that reached worldwide acclaim and, to this day, is considered one of the greatest games ever made. Because of this,Rapid Reload’s growth was stunted. It is more than deserving of a remaster, placing it back in the hands of new and dedicated fans.
6Fighting Force
Fighting Forcewas a 3D brawler game that allowed players to play one of four protagonists to take on the sinister Dr. Zeng and his criminal empire. Dr. Zeng was a madman who believed in the Y2K apocalypse theory and sought to destroy the world to see the prophecy come true.

Fighting Forcewas an ambitious take on new 3D style graphics and interactive environments that had recently been developed. It was intended to be the sequel to theStreets of RageIP, but was turned down by Sega. The Core Design studio decided to make the game a standalone instead of scrapping it, and published the game on multiple consoles with the help of Eidolos Interactive.
5Guardians Crusade
Tamsoft’s own creation to compete with heavy hitter role-playing games such asLegend of ZeldaandChrono CrusadewasGuardians Crusade.The game was a beautiful mesh of RPG elements and 3D graphical components that was set in a medieval fantasy land that immersed players in the game’s story.
Players take control of Man Knight, who is charged with the task of delivering a supernatural infant to a place known as “Gods Tower.” Along the way, players must fight their way through powerful monsters as they explore the game world.
4Jade Cocoon
InJade Cocoon, players take control of Levant, a young villager in a world populated by giant hostile bugs. Levant hopes to become a strong Cocoon Master like his father and sets out on his own.
Jade Cocoonallows players to tame, cross-breed, and sell captured bugs for materials and allows battle between bugslike Pokemonin turned-based combat. Game studio Genki, also known forTokyo Extreme Racing, made an excellent first step into the RPG genre, but unfortunately, it fell short of expectations.
3Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain
Another game with a strong cult following is theBlood Omenseries. These games followed the centuries-old vampire Kain at his beginning, freshly turned into a child of the night. Upon his revival, Kain is filled with vengeful bloodlust and searches for his murderers in a frenzy.

TheBlood Omenseries was the predecessor for games likeGod Of WarandDarksiders, laying the groundwork for what action-adventure games would become.Blood Omen: Legacy of Kainwas the first in a series and was praised for its story and gameplay components, but has slowly fallen to the wayside as a forgotten masterpiece.
2Alundra
Alundrais an early form psychological action-adventure game made by Matrix Software. The game is a tale of a young man named Alundra who learns of the ability to dreamwalk. Through a freak accident, he ends up on an island where a devastating plague of nightmares ravishes the population.

Utilizing his new power, Alundra tries to combat the issue terrorizing the small island and discovers it is no easy task. Alundra tackles serious issues and becomes a much darker game for the time it was created, which may have been why it did not stand the test of time. However,Alundradeserves a comeback aspsychological horror gamesare more popular as of late.
1Azure Dreams
Azure Dreamswas an early roguelike game developed by Konami. The game possessed heavy fantasy RPG elements where players take on the main character, Koh, on a journey to find his missing father.
Koh is the son of Guy, a famous monster tamer who disappeared in the monster tower outside their village. When Koh turns fifteen, he enters the tower himself, hoping to reach the top and discover the truth behind his father’s disappearance. Unfortunately,Azure Dreamswas released to lukewarm reception and was mostly overtaken by more well-known franchises during the time of its release.
