Summary

An imaginativePokemonfan recently created a new Eevee evolution that combines both Water and Rock types. The originalPokemongamesintroduced players to a wide assortment of collectible monsters, and Eevee stands as one of the most popular and unique. While plenty of Pokemon evolve into stronger forms by fulfilling certain conditions, Eevee takes this a step further by having several different branches that can be unlocked by exposing the little fox-like creature to particular elemental stones or maxing out its Friendship level at a certain time of the day.

As of this writing,Eevee has eight possible evolutions, in addition to the special Partner variant featured in 2018’sPokemon: Let’s Go Eeveeand a powerful Gigantamax form. Eevee’s very nature leaves the door open to plenty of impressive artwork from fans, who often create new evolutions based on the types that haven’t been given one yet. This includes gemstone-like Rock-type evolutions, Poison forms with snakes where Eevee’s hair and tail usually are, and even Dual-Type evolutions that combine the elements of Bug and Dragon.

Eevee already has a Water evolution in the form ofPokemon Red and Blue’s Vaporeon, but a talented Reddit user by the handle of In-ProgressPokemon recently gave it another - one that also features the previously unused Rock type. As shown in their post on r/pokemon, Reefeon is an aquatic, dog-like creature with a seahorse’s tail and coral-like growths all across its body. The result has been praised by other Reddit users, with one even suggesting that Eevee could achieve this new form by having a Water Stone used on it near a coral reef.

The Fan-Made Reefeon Is Making A Splash Online

Reefeon is just one of In-ProgressPokemon’s latest creations, as they have drawn alternate versions ofvarious Pokemon like Houndoomalongside completely original designs. One of their main focuses seems to be creating new Eevee evolutions, with a series of Halloween forms modeled after ghosts, grim reapers, and even candy corn. So far, they have created over 50 custom Eevee evolutions, including dual-type forms and a Mega Evolution for the Grass-type Leafeon.

Eevee didn’t get any new evolutionsinPokemon Scarlet and Violent, and it isn’t a guarantee that any more will be added to its lineage in Generation 10 or beyond. In the meantime, talentedPokemonfan artists like In-ProgressPokemon are more than happy to pick up the slack by creating their own Eevee forms like the coral reef-inspired Water/Rock hybrid Reefeon.
