Summary
APokemonfan recently created a chart with all 40 creatures from the franchise’s first generation that did not get any new forms over time. NewerPokemongames often add variants to previously known creatures, but these classic Pokemon seem to have been snubbed for the last 28 years.
Thefirst generation ofPokemongamesstarted withPokemon Red, Green, and Blueback in 1996, and is perhaps one of the most well-known iterations of the franchise. However, while some creatures such as Pikachu, Eevee, and Charizard are all-time favorites that received new versions over time, many Gen 1 Pokemon remain forgotten.
Now, aPokemonfan called pepe_grillo created an interesting chart that showcases all the creatures that have not gained new designs such asregional variants in laterPokemongames. In total, 40 of the 151 Pokemon from Gen 1 have not gained any forms yet. The list includes some popular monsters like Psyduck, Ditto, Starmie, Dragonite, and the whole Nido family, and also some less noteworthy ones like Dewgong, Paras, and Goldeen.
In the comments of pepe_grillo’s post, several fans lamented the lack of new official designs for these creatures. Among the most popular picks were the Nido Pokemon, which include the male and female Nidoran, Nidorino, Nidoking, Nidorina, and Nidoqueen. According to fans, regional versions of the Nidos, or Paradox forms for Nidoking and Nidoqueen would be excellent additions.
Pokemon Fans Create Unofficial Variants for Many Creatures
While fans may not get to see official designs for some of these creatures anytime soon, it’s not hard to find fan work that gives some of these Pokemon alternative forms. For instance, aPokemon fan created regional forms for Psyducklast year, designing a Water/Psychic-type version of the creature. In this new evolutionary line, both Psyduck and Golduck gained new designs greatly inspired by concepts such as meditation, and also a new evolution called Ascenduck.
Another example from last year includes a fan who devisedpast and future Paradox forms for Ditto. The past Paradox form was called Mimic Spike, while the future version was named Iron Replica. These were creative designs that remade the Gen 1 Pokemon inspired by a stalagmite and a hologram, respectively. Hopefully, Nintendo will come up with even more forms for old creatures in upcoming games, as it seems that the community is eager to see some classic Pokemon gaining new forms. However, if that doesn’t happen, the fans probably will come up with some new forms of their own.
