Summary
A couple of artistically talented and collaborativePokemonfans have come together to create a new baby form for the popular Pokemon Tropius. The adorable fan-made design retains much of the look of its fully-grown adult form, while incorporating clever new details which easily cuePokemonfans in on what exactly the creature is supposed to be.
Introduced as part ofPokemon’s third generation, Tropius is a dual-type Grass/Flying Pokemon resembling a sauropod, which includes dinosaurs such as the Brachiosaurus. It is one of only a relative handful of Pokemon not known to evolve into or from any other Pokemon. With nothing being significantly done with the Pokemon in the six generations that have transpired since its introduction, manyPokemonfans think Tropius needs a new evolutionor buff, the former of which thesePokemonfans have attempted to create.
ThePokemonfan artist involved with the baby form of Tropius go by the handles of MengShuZ and Soyalexalan, where MengShuZ posted the finished product to a popularPokemonforum page on Reddit. The adorable baby Tropius, called Platiny, is instantly recognizable for what it is, bearing the same colorings as its adult self. Platiny features rounded green spikes on its back, likely representing budding leaves. In addition to having a stubbier silhouette of itsfull-sized dinosaur-based Pokemoncounterpart, Platiny is wearing a banana peel on its head like a helmet, likely sourced from the neck of its Tropius mother.
The first slide is a standard shot of the fan-made Pokemon, while the second slide showcases the baby Tropius in a spectrum of different emotions. According to the post’s comments, the original design of the Pokemon belongs to Soyalexalan, while MengShuZ turned it into a fully rigged 3D model. The design is surprisingly diversified fromanotherPokemonfan’s baby Tropius concept, called Tropette, which appears to stick a bit more closely to Tropius' original design.
Trying to Transform Tropius
Tropius' total lack of evolutions has also inspired fans to imagine more than a baby form, with onePokemonfan creating a Tropius Mega Evolution. The design features an almost overgrown version of Tropius with massive frayed leaves that have turned into an autumn-like color. The appendages on its head and neck are greatly bolstered and sharpened, giving the docile Pokemon an intimidating look. While it remains to be seen if Tropius will ever receive a new evolution or buff of any kind, developers can always look to the prolificPokemonfan art for inspiration.
