A wildPokemonfan drawing combines Bulbasaur and Pikachu into a bizarre new creature. Both of these famous Pokemon were introduced to the masses in the originalPokemon Red and Blue, and have since become icons of Nintendo’s long-running monster-raising RPG franchise. In fact, the grassy Bulbasaur is the very first officially numbered Pokemon, and was one of thefirst three Starter Pokemon options. Meanwhile, the lightning-generating mouse Pikachu is the franchise’s mascot.
Given that these two have been a part of thePokemonfranchise since the very beginning, it should come as no small surprise that Bulbasaur and Pikachu have plenty of fan art dedicated to them. In Bulbasaur’s case, players have usedPokemontrading cards to create collages of it sharing a cute embrace with its fellow starter Squirtle and evenredesigned it as a cinnamon rollof all things. As for Pikachu, artists have mixed the adorable rodent with a starry night sky and rendered it dresses as other famous Pokemon from theRed and Blueera.

Now a Reddit user by the handle of NeedsYou69 has merged Bulbasaur and Pikachu in a cute-yet-bizarre piece ofPokemonfan art. Posted to Reddit earlier today, this fusion features Pikachu’s general body shape as well as its electricity-generating red cheeks and signature lightning bolt-shaped tail. However, it also has Bulbasaur’s leafy skin pattern and a blooming flower reminiscent of its secondary evolution Ivysaur atop its head. Some of NeedsYou69’s fellowPokemonfans in the comment section have dubbed this creation “Pikasaur” or “Bulbachu."
This isn’t the first time that aPokemonfan has combined Bulbasaur with another creature, as a similar artwork depicted what it would look likemerged with the spooky Ghost-type Gengar. In fact, the internet is filled with plenty of impressivePokemonfusions, with some of the most unlikely pairings of Gen 1 creatures being a blend of Eevee and Beedrill, a mash-up of Sandslash and Dragonair, and even a cross between the extremely powerful Mewtwo and the lowly Magikarp.
Pokemonfans enjoy creating new breeds of collectible monsters almost as much as they do searching for and capturing the existing ones, and this Bulbasaur/Pikachu hybrid is one such invention. While this fusion may look creepy, it also retains many of its host Pokemon’s most endearing qualities. Plus, there aren’t many Grass/Electric type Pokemon in existence, making this cross between two of the series’ most famous creatures even more interesting.
