Players inPokemon GOshould hopefully be able to soon use Mega Evolution to allow theirPokemonto become far more powerful than before in tough battles. After being introduced, the PVP and raid scene ofPokemon GOwill be changed for good, just like when Mega Evolution was introduced to the mainlinePokemongames.
The biggest obstacle with Mega Evolution comes with how only a few Pokemon out of the entire Pokedex can actually perform it. This will likely remain the same inPokemon GO.

As Niantic has been released the Pokemon themselves in waves with updates, Mega Evolutions will likely occur the same way. With this in mind, there are some Pokemon that players will want toMega Evolvebefore others, and these would be could for the first wave and perhaps special introductions for Mega Evolutions.
Mega Gyarados
When Gyarados goes through Mega Evolution, it loses its secondary flying-type and becomes a dual water anddark-type Pokemonwith increased stats to boot. Considering the amount of Magikarp candies needed to evolve their Magikarp into a Gyarados, a possible Mega Evolution would make the effort all the more worth it for players willing to sacrifice their Pinap Berries and Rare Candies.
Mega Altaria
Like with Gyarados, players will need to sacrifice a lot of candy to evolve a Swablu into an Altaria inPokemon GO. While this would make a Mega Evolution just that much more sweeter, Mega Altaria’s new typing of being a dual dragon and fairy-type help protect Altaria from its previous weakness to fairy. It also protects Altaria from dragon-type moves as well, making Altaria farmore competitively viable.
Mega Mewtwo
While Mewtwo is already considered to be very competitively viable inPokemon GO’s PVP scene, the inclusion of Mewtwo’s Mega Evolved forms could completely change how players use this powerful legendary. Many new players have additionally only recently caught this Pokemon for the first time as well thanks toGiovanni of Team GO Rocketgiving players to catch one upon his defeat in his most recent party.
It would additionally be interesting to see howPokemon GOhandles two different forms of Mega Evolution like withMewtwo and Charizard. Players would likely be able to quickly find out which form is more effective than the other in battle, but for casual players, it would be great for them to be able to Mega Evolve their Pokemon that was caught during a special event.
Mega Pidgeot
One type of candy that mostPokemon GOplayers certainly aren’t low on is Pidgey Candy. With Pidgey being one of themost common Pokemonto be found, players likely have at least one Pidgeot with it also likely being one of the first Pokemon they’ve completely evolved when playingPokemon GO.
With this in mind, Mega Pidgeot being one of the first Mega Evolutions to be released would allow a lot more players to test out Mega Evolution in battle. It could also bring some kind of competitive help for this common Pokemon that normally sits on the sidelines.
Mega Gengar
Gengar is one of thehighest ranked ghost-typesinPokemon GO’s PVP with it being right below the powerful Giratina. Its power would be greatly enhanced by a Mega Evolution being added for this frightening Pokemon. Like Pidgeot, a lot of trainers are in possession of Gengar due to Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar being the only ghost-types in the game for the longest time. This would give a lot of players a source of power they’ve never had before.
