The Pokemon Company recently revealed brand-new Poison/Normal-type Pokemon Grafaiai to the world with a video made up to look like a nature documentary.Grafaiai will be making its debutin the upcomingPokemon Scarlet and Violetgames, and now fans can watch a brief gameplay video to see how it looks in the actual games themselves.
ThePokemon Scarlet and VioletGrafaiai gameplay video is brief, but it does show what the Pokemon looks like when out and about in thePaldea region’s open world. In the clip, Grafaiai can be seen licking its hands and painting on objects, which is how it spreads its poisonous slime. According to Grafaiai’s lore, the poison’s smell attracts Bug-type Pokemon and paralyzes them, making them easy pickings for so-called Toxic Monkey.

The video also shows Grafaiai in a Pokemon battle against a Jumpluff. Jumpluff is a Grass/Flying-type Pokemon that was first introduced to thePokemonfranchise all the way back in the Generation 2 games, and it will once again be appearing in the upcomingPokemon Scarlet and Violet. Unfortunately, the video ends beforePokemonfans can see the conclusion of the battle, but it does show Grafaiai using what appears to be a Poison-type attack of some sort.
Something that’s especially interesting about the video is the fact that it takes place during the day. Shortly after The Pokemon Company released theoriginal Grafaiai video, it also updated thePokemon Scarlet and Violetwebsite with more detailed information about the creature. Grafaiai’s description on thePokemon Scarlet and Violetsite confirmed that it is a nocturnal creature, which lead to some speculation that it would only be available to catch at night. It would be far from the first Pokemon whose appearance was dependent on a day/night cycle, but if this video is any indication, it seems that isn’t the case.
Grafaiai is just one of the new Pokemon coming inPokemon Scarlet and Violet. Neither Nintendo nor The Pokemon Company have revealed the full list of new Pokemon coming in the new games, but reputable leakers have suggested that there will beover 100 new Pokemon inPokemon Scarlet and Violetby the time it’s all said and done. If that’s true, the vast majority of new Pokemon inPokemon Scarlet and Violethave yet to be revealed to the public, and it’s unclear when such a reveal may take place.
There arerumors that a Nintendo Direct presentation is going to happenin the very near future, and if those rumors are true, perhaps fans will learn about more newPokemon Scarlet and VioletPokemon at the event.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violetlaunch November 18, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
