ThePokemonseries is well into Gen 9 withPokemon Scarlet and Violetnearing six months since their release and players still are unable to transfer their mons inPokemon Hometo these new games. Although connectivity between the storage application andPokemon Scarlet and Violetis planned, there has been no definitive announcement of when players can expect to be able to transfer their legacy mons into the Gen 9 games. However, with the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC announced for release towards the end of the year, one time frame is left wide open for a potentialPokemon Homeconnectivity update.
With the limits placed on which creatures are available to players within the past few generations of games,Pokemon Homehas become a necessity for players trying to maintain a living Pokedex. WhilePokemon Scarlet and Violethave been getting a series of7-Star Tera Raidevents featuring monsters unavailable elsewhere in the game, these events aren’t enough of a substitute for the ability to transfer previously caught mons into this new gen to warrant such a delay inPokemon Homeconnectivity. Fans may be in luck, though, as connectivity might be coming sooner rather than later.

A Summer Update to Add Pokemon Home Connectivity for Scarlet and Violet Makes a Lot of Sense
The Pokemon Presents broadcast back in February in honor of Pokemon Day had a lot of fans expecting an announcement about the status ofPokemon Homeand when they could expect an update forPokemon Scarlet and Violetthat adds connectivity with the service. While this announcement didn’t happen, fans were treated to the reveal of the DLC plans forPokemon Scarlet and Violetwith the announcement of two expansions,The Teal Maskand The Indigo Disk. Despite the lack of aPokemon Home update, this DLC announcement might help narrow down the potential release window for connectivity with the service.
The first expansion in theHidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, The Teal Mask, was given a release window of Fall 2023, with the second expansion, The Indigo Disk, getting a window of Winter 2023. Given the sizable gap in time between the DLC’s announcement and release windows, there is a large period without any majorPokemoncontent scheduled that could be a prime time forPokemon Homeconnectivity to release. Taking all of these factors into consideration, early Summer 2023 seems like the most likely time forPokemon Scarlet and Violetto receive thePokemon Homeconnectivity update.
The time around late May/early June has always been a popular time for video game releases due to the end of the school year and the start of summer vacation. It’s likely that Game Freak and The Pokemon Company will capitalize on this time as it marks a lull in content forPokemon Scarlet and Violetwhile also giving players enough time to dig into the new gameplay opportunities creatures fromPokemon Homewill add before the DLC launches in the fall. The free time summer affords many players seems like the perfect opportunity to renew interest in the Gen 9 games ahead of their DLC.
Regardless of ifPokemon Homeconnectivity is added during the summer or not, it’s still likely that the games will receive the connectivity update prior to the release of The Teal Mask due to the number of returning Pokemon being added in the DLC. Giving players access to the fullGen 9 Pokedexprior to the DLC’s launch makes the most sense from a gameplay perspective. With how much the longevity of the games rely on being able to transfer in older mons, aPokemon Homeupdate forPokemon Scarlet and Violetis likely coming sooner rather than later.
