Numel and Camerupt are largely unexplored Pokemon that can helpPokemon Scarlet & Violetplayers get through the game’s story. They might just have some use beyond that, too.

WhilePokemon Diamond & Pearlwere notorious for not offering up fire-type Pokemon for those who didn’t choose Chimchar as their starting Pokemon, that’s not the case withPokemon Scarlet & Violet. Players are spoiled for choice for fire types right from the very start of the game.

Alongside the ability to start with Fuecoco, players canget Growlithe early onor opt into gen-sixfire-flying Pokemon Talonflame. There’s also Charcadet and its two evolutions, Scovillain, and many other options both new and old. So how does Camerupt fit into this and how can players get it?

Where to Find Numel in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Players can find and catch themselves a Numel in West Province Area One. Though its fire typing might lead players to think it’s native to the Asado Desert, that’s not actually the case. It’s instead found along the path fromthe Open Sky TitantoCascarrafa, home of gym leader Kofu.

Alongside this, the Pokemon can also be found in Area Zero. It’s mostly found in the mountainous regions but is tough to find. Players looking to catch one should instead look towards West Province Area One to find it more reliably.

How to Evolve Numel into Camerupt

Numel evolves into Camerupt after being raised to level 33. Players don’t have to worry about any other caveats for evolution, and don’t necessarily need to worry about raising one at all if their only goal is registering it to the Pokedex.

Camerupt spawns in North Province Area Two, the northeasternmost corner of Paldea. It’s found in the rocky regions to the far northeast rather than in the forested area near the Pokemon Center, so players will likely need to have the climbingability unlocked on Koraidon or Miraidonto get one.

Is Camerupt a Good Pokemon?

Camerupt is a decent Pokemon but suffers in thePokemon Scarlet & Violetmeta due to its stats and typing. It has an underwhelming base stat total of 460, which is equally focused into both its Attack and Sp. Attack stats. With a weakness to ground and a double weakness to water, that’s not ideal.

It has serviceable bulk which is accentuated by the Solid Rock ability which reduces the power of super-effective moves used against it by 25%. That’s still not quite enough to let it comfortably stay on the field when other Pokemon can threaten it.

It could work as a Trick Room sweeper threatif Mega Evolution returnsas its base speed actually drops when Mega Evolved, but until that’s the case Camerupt should only be looked at as a niche Tera Raid battle option and decent fire and ground option for the story.
