Summary
WithPokemon Legends: Arceusselling so well and resonating so much with players for its big departure from the classic formula of the mainline series, it’s always seemed quite likely that it would end up getting a sequel.Pokemon Scarlet and Violethint at a Gen 5Legendsgamein multiple ways, such as having a Duraludon evolution that resembles Unova’s bridges or the fact that its trainer is seemingly related toPokemon Black’s Drayden. With leaks and rumors piling up about new Gen 5 games, it seems plausible that some form ofPokemon Legendssequel will come - maybe as soon as next year.
There are multiple regions that would work very well for aPokemon Legends: Arceussequelafter Sinnoh’s past version, Hisui, and some of the most interesting options would be Johto and Unova. While Johto is simply one of the most beloved regions in the franchise, Unova and Gen 5 as a whole have been dragged time and again in the spotlight in modern games, to the point that aPokemon Legends Unovagame would not only make sense, but actually pay off a lot of the buildup to it. If this does happen, there are a few creatures that would be just right for its accompanying new regional forms and evolutions.

Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist
Considering that Gen 6’s Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist are both inspired by the typical jack o’lantern adorning homes and streets in the fall, more specifically close to Halloween. The term originated in a different manner, with it referring to the sightings of flickering lights, also known as will-o-wisps, but the fact that jack o’lanterns are mainly tied to American culture and Halloween make Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist perfect candidates for new regional forms or an evolution inaPokemon Legends Unovagame.
Drowzee and Hypno
Unova is home to a set of unique pocket monsters, and one of the more interesting additions is the Munna and Musharna evolutionary line. Munna is first found in the Dreamyard inPokemon Black and White, and when players beat Ghetsis they can go back there and find a Musharna with its Hidden Ability in its place. Given these Pokemon’s ties to dreams and sleeping, it doesn’t come as a surprise that one of Drowzee’s Pokedex entries describes it as sharing common ancestry with Munna and Musharna. As such, it would make sense for aGen 5Pokemon Legendsgameto include regional forms or an evolution for Drowzee and Hypno to further highlight that connection.
Cubone and Marowak
Similarly, one of Marowak’s Pokedex entries talks about how it throws bones at specimens of Mandibuzz to presumably avenge his parent, which makes sense considering both Vullaby and Mandibuzz have a heavy theme with bones of other critters. Cubone already has one of thesaddest stories inPokemongamesand other media, and it would make sense for this evolutionary line to have a regional form that adapted to the Unovan landscape or an evolution that is specifically strong against Mandibuzz.
Happiny, Chansey, and Blissey
InPokemon Black 2 and White 2, players can get a Happiny egg in the gate between Nacrene City and Route 3. If aPokemon LegendsUnovagame comes out, it could capitalize on this scripted event by having someone give the main character a different Happiny egg, this time one that hatches into its regional form. This Unovan Happiny could either have different forms for both Chansey and Blissey or maybe even evolve into different Pokemon altogether, but it would be a great way to include an easter egg tied to the original set of games while also including a new regional form for a beloved species.
