Madden NFL 22is expected to be coming at the tail-end of the summer — either July or August, though that’s unconfirmed. Like every other iteration, fans will likely debate over the ratings of their favorite players. Since the addition of abilities inMadden NFL 20, ratings have become slightly less important than they used to be. They used to represent the totality of a player’s usefulness on the field, but now are balanced by Superstar X-Factor abilities. While this system is going to carry over toMadden NFL 22, ratings are still a sign of respect, and as such, are taken very seriously by fans.
Last year, fans ratedMadden NFL 21as one of the worstyet. The most common criticism held against it was that nothing changed from the year prior. It was essentially viewed as the same exact game with a new coat of paint. For this year,Madden NFL 22has to make big changes and rectify the mistakes of last year’s disaster release. A good place to start is players' ratings. If the developers can nail a few key players' rating changes, the game will start off on the right foot.

Devin White 84 to 91
While fans might not knowwhat to expect fromMadden NFL 22, they can expect that the Super Bowl-winning squad is going to get a ton of respect. While rating jumps of 7 points are uncommon, they do happen. In the case of Devin White, it almost seems to be a no-brainer that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker will climb a lot in the release ofMadden NFL 22.
White had a respectable rookie season, but in his sophomore effort, he absolutely exploded onto the scene. His combined 140 tackles — with the third most solo tackles — put him in good company near the top of the league. He also landed just shy of double-digit sacks with nine. If that wasn’t enough, White also put up a solid performance in the Super Bowl that managed to get him a new piece of jewelry.
Justin Herbert 78 to 85
There are few rookie seasons as good as Justin Herbert’s. In fact, in some aspects, there are none. His 31 touchdowns on the season smashed the record previously held by Baker Mayfield, and his 4336 passing yards fell just 38 yards short of the record held by Andrew Luck. Though Herbert likely would have passed this record if Tyrod Taylor had not started the season.
Unfortunately, his monstrous effort was somewhat overshadowed by the San Diego Chargers' losing record. Still,Madden NFL 22rates players on their individual ability, and it’s very hard to argue that Herbert is undeserving of sitting justbelow the league’s best quarterbacks in ratingsafter a historic first season. For comparison sake, Mayfield, who achieved similar rookie success, entered the next year’s game at 83.
Justin Jefferson 86 to 90
Like Herbert, Jefferson had an absolutely outstanding rookie debut. He broke an almost two-decade-old receiving yard record set by Anquan Boldin. It also put him as thefourth-best receiver in the league. Unfortunately, also like Herbert, Jefferson’s efforts were marred by the Minnesota Vikings' losing record, but the truth is in the numbers.
The 2020 Vikings were an offensive force, posting the third-most points in team history. On the flip side, they also conceded the third-most points in their team’s history. So, their losing record was largely due to an imbalance between their offensive and defensive success. This is a long-winded way of saying that Jefferson is hardly at fault for the team’s record and that his ridiculous stats could potentially push him into the coveted 90 rating bracket.
Madden NFL 22has not been announced yet.
