The officialPlayStation VR2 App on Steamwill launch on August 7, according to its listing on the platform. This app will allow people to play VR games and apps on Steam using the PS VR2. It will also let users set up their headsets on the PC, update firmware, and tweak settings. Aside from a headset, Sense controllers, and DisplayPort 1.4-compatible cable, a$59.99 PS VR2 PC adapter, which will also become available on August 7, is required for the Steam app.

Steam listed the minimum system requirements for the PS VR2 App as an Intel Core i5-7600 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100 processor; 8 GB of RAM; 700 MB of space; and an Nvidia GTX 1650, AMD RX 5500 XT, or AMD RX 6500 XT. However, it is recommended for users to have either an RTX 3060, one of themost popular graphics cardson the market, or an RX 6600 XT. The Steam page also noted that, when it comes to qualified AMD CPUs, the PS VR2 Steam App will require a chip powered by Zen 2 or any newer architecture, while Nvidia GPUs should at least be from the Turing era.
As the PS VR2 was designed specifically for the PS5, some features like HDR, headset feedback, and eye tracking will not be available when using the headset on the PC, Sony has warned. The company assured that the PS VR2 will at least support 4K resolution, 110-degree field of view, finger touch detection, and see-through view on PC.
Sony drastically scaled back funding for PS VR2game development, and the company is now only working on two games for its headset, according to reports. Previously announced titles for thePlayStation VR2includeAlien: Rogue Incursion,Metal: Hellsinger VR, andMetro: Awakening, among many others.
