Every day that passes since Microsoft revealed the Xbox Series X, it becomes weirder thatSony has yet to do the samewith thePlayStation 5, but if there’s any bright side to it, it means more PlayStation fans can share the ideas they have for what the console might look like.
Several unofficial designs have made their way onto the internet in recent times, all of them making their best guess for what the PS5’s official design could be based on what little confirmed information is out there. This was made easier this month with theofficial reveal of the PS5’s DualSense controller, and as a result a lot of the new fan concepts that have come out since seem more believable than ever.

It wasn’t long after the controller’s reveal that Italian graphic designer Giuseppe Spinelli (AKA Snoreyn) shared one of the more impressivePS5concepts, taking a console shape similar to the PS4 and incorporating the distinct aspects of the DualSense’s design and color scheme to create a sleek console that could easily pass for the real thing. Along with themain all-white design, Snoreyn teased an all-black version, and today LetsGoDigital shared a series of high-quality images showing it off in full.
The result is something that looks like a next-gen PS4 Pro and goes nicely withSnoreyn’s other PS5 design concepts. As with the all-white version, this one also highlights the practical touches in Snoreyn’s design, like the disc drive and USB ports in the front, as well as the two rows of ventilation holes on the side designed to efficiently vent hot air out of the console. This looks like something that would be easy for gamers to use.
On a purely visual level, though, this version is arguably less distinct than the all-white version, though that could simply be chalked up to how different the PS5’s aesthetic (or what’s been revealed of it, at least) is from past PlayStations. Regardless, this version still highlights the sleekness of Snoreyn’s concept, while keeping with the recent trend among fan designers ofgiving the PS5 a more classic, all-black makeover.
From the looks of it, fan concepts like this will continue to be the closest thing we get to a proper PS5 reveal for a while more. It goes without saying that the coronavirus pandemic hasthrown any plans Sony had for this time of year into disarray, and as such the company hasn’t yet been able to provide a solid ETA for when the PS5’s official unveiling will happen. As of this writing, though, the console is still slated to come out this year, so hopefully it won’t be much longer before fans can find out.
ThePlayStation 5is scheduled to launch this holiday season.
