To add some insight, it seems highly likely that the level that this artwork is based ontakes place at the beginning ofPsychonauts 2, in the mind of Dr. Caligosto Loboto, the villain of both the originalPsychonautsand the virtual reality spin-off,Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin. Loboto is a deranged ex-dentist who was lobotomized as a child and was responsible for kidnapping the Whispering Rocks PSI Cadets before the events of the first game. During the first game, Loboto shows an insane obsession with teeth, which later turns to an even more insane obsession with brains.
