Red Dead Redemption 2has now been available on PC for over three weeks, first launching via the Rockstar Games Launcher and the Epic Games Store. Rockstar wanted to capitalize on the high revenue share between its own storefront and the Epic Game Store forRed Dead Redemption 2’s launch, but now it’s ready to expand. As promised,Red Dead Redemption 2is coming to Steam, where a huge PC gaming community has been waiting for delivery.
In a quick and simple post to its official Twitter account, Rockstar Games confirmed thatRed Dead Redemption 2will be launching on Steamstarting December 5. That’s one month after the game launched on other storefronts, all but confirming a small exclusivity contract is expiring. No further details were provided forRed Dead Redemption 2’s launch on the Steam platform, but it’s at the very least a date that Steam users can add to their calendars.

Surprisingly, despite Rockstar’s announcement on Twitter, the company has only updatedRed Dead Redemption 2’s release date on its Steam profile. The game is not available to pre-order yet and has not had a price provided. This is likely due to something in the game’s exclusivity contract, to ensure that many more sales go through Rockstar or theEpic Games Storebefore the Steam launch. As such, Steam users should probably expectRed Dead Redemption 2to only become available for purchase on December 5 and no earlier. That likely means there won’t be any pre-load.
Given that Steam having pre-orders available forRed Dead Redemption 2is in doubt, it’s also in doubt as to whether the bonus offered to pre-orderers on other platforms will be offered to Steam users. Pre-orderers prior to the November 5 launch were given 25 Gold Bars to spend inRed Dead Online. Steam users may end up arriving to the gold rush late and will have to earn their first Gold Bars through hard work.
WhetherRed Dead Redemption 2players on PC buy the game via Steam, the Epic Game Store, or otherwise, the game has received several improvements compared to its console predecessor. This includes a range of graphical and technical improvements like increased draw distance, as well asnew content like Bounty Hunting Missions, Gang Hideouts, weapons, and more. Steam users will see the improvements for themselves starting December 5.
