Red Dead Redemption 2features a huge amount of content for players to explore. From the unrivaled main story, to the incredibly detailed challenges, it seems Arthur Morgan is never at a loss for things to do. In true Rockstar Games fashion, even those smaller challenges provide players with an incredible amount of gameplay time, and can often feel as engaging as some of the larger narrative quests - or at least as enticing, given the quality of rewards they offer. In this way,Red Dead Redemption 2continues to stand outin the action-adventure genre.
One of these earlier challenges, the second in the ‘Herbalist’ category, provides Arthur with a tricky task that revolves around wild fruit. Arthur is required to find and eat each individual berry type, but no further clues are given. For many players, this task impedes progress in theRDR2’s Herbalist section, largely due to the fact that they simply have no idea where to look. This guide will explain how players will be able to complete this challenge very early in the game, with guaranteed locations for each of the four berry types.
Arthur can find a raspberryvery close to Valentine and Horseshoe Overlook,Red Dead 2’s first major camp location. Looking at the map, look for.a small section in between the railroad and dirt road just west of the ‘Citadel Rock’ lettering. In this little section of land, Arthur will find two raspberry bushes that are very difficult to miss when riding south out of Valentine towards the camp. Use Eagle Eye to highlight both bushes for Arthur. The image below depicts the exact location of these bushes, but Arthur will find several in the field that sits adjacent to the railroad that runs south out of town.
If Arthur has not picked raspberries – or any of the required berries – before, he will not be given the option to eat them directly off the bush the first time he picks them. Instead, Arthur can simply find the berry in his satchel after picking it, and select the ‘eat’ option. This will still count as completing the required tasks for the challenge.
FInding a blackberry inRed Dead 2is much trickier than finding a raspberry. They are much rarer than their red counterpart. Still, they can be found if Arthur knows where to look. Luckily, there is one blackberry bush that is extremely easy to find.
This blackberry bush is located just outside Riggs Station, between Valentine and Strawberry. The bush sits right along the train track heading north out of the station. The above image depicts the exact location on the map where the bush can be found. Again, this is accessible from the moment Arthur has free rein of the open-world.
Finding anEvergreen Huckleberry inRed Dead Redemption 2is likely the easiest of the four berry types, provided Arthur knows where to look. This berry is in so easily found in the southern area of the map, it is unlikely that the player will need any assistance in locating them. However, that does not mean a location will not be provided.
Evergreen Huckleberries grow basicallyeverywhere south of the Lemoyne state line, and can also be found on the northeastern coast, though in far smaller numbers. The best place to look is in the swamps north of St. Denis, where they are impossible to miss when using Eagle Eye.
There is a guaranteed location just outside Clemens Point, the camp near Rhodes where the Van Der Linde gang spends Chapter 3. Looking at the map, Arthur will want to head to the small forested area south of Radley’s Pasture, and west of the printed town name ‘RHODES.’ The above image depicts the exact location of the berry.
Another location of the Evergreen Huckleberry, just outside St. Denis near Caliga Hall.
Red Dead Redemption 2’s Wintergreen Berryis where many players get stuck when completing Herbalist challenge 2. Many think that they cannot access the berry until later in the game, but this is simply not true. There are several easily-accessed, but well-hidden locations to find Wintergreen Berries early in the game.
While there are multiple guaranteed locations, one of the easiest to find early in the game is near Wallace Station, one of the stops available by train. From the station, look west on the map to find what appears to be a small black dot. This dot marks the location of an old chimney in a completely destroyed home. Just outside the ‘walls’ on the northwestern corner of the building, Arthur will find two Wintergreen Berry plants. These plants are much harder to see, as they are not bushes, so make sure to look for the typical white dots floating above a plant location in Eagle Eye.
This location also containsRed Dead Redemption 2’sDouble Bit Hatchet, found in a tree stump directly north of the chimney, just outside the ‘wall.’
With this, Arthur will have collected all four berry types, and completed Herbalist Challenge 2.
