Arthur Morgan is the protagonist ofRed Dead Redemption IIand the player is able to get to know him better as the story progresses.Being evilreveals certain parts of his past, while being good can cause Arthur to speak about his regrets and what he wishes he had done different.

By exploring the world, players can find notes and hear NPCs talk about Arthur and his activities in the world. Reading Arthur’s journalreveals his writing and drawing skills, while also allowing the player to read how he feels after completing certain missions and meeting certain strangers.

When the player is helping Charles Châtenay during a side mission, they are required to go into a gallery inSaint Denis. Players are able to look at the art on the walls of the gallery, and may be surprised to see a familiar face.
If the player has completed the’Arcadia for Amateurs’mission, they will find a portrait of Arthur Morgan. This can be found after saving Albert Mason from wolves, as Albert takes a picture of Arthur before the attack.
9Grave Changes Depending On Honor
AfterArthur Morgan diesfrom his sickness and wounds, Charles Smith finds him and buries him where he died. What players might not know is that the grave can change appearances depending on the honor Arthur had when he died.
If Arthur had high honor, there will be flowers around his grave and it will look like it was taken care of. If he had low honor, his grave has no flowers and will look weathered. The phrase will also change depending on the honor.
It is revealed by Andrew Milton that Arthur has a $5000 bounty on his head. Arthur jokes he should turn himself in to cash it, but it might be higher than that by the end of the game. This encounter with Andrew Milton happens before all of the robberies, killings, and massacresthroughout the game.

Because of how well the Pinkerton agents are able to track the gang, it should be expected that Arthur’s bounty became higher as time went on. This does not include bounties the player can gain by themselves, as those can be easily paid off.
7Wears His Father’s Hat
By looking at Arthur’s section of the camp, the player is able to find a picture of his father. What players might notice is that the hat in the photo is the same one that Arthur wears. This is because Arthur took the hat after his father was killed.
Arthur’s father was an outlaw, and Arthur was there to witness his death. Afterwards, Arthur dons the hat, only to pass it on to John Marston at the end of the game.
6Joined A Gang At 14-Years-Old
Arthur’s mom died when he was young, and he witnessed his dad get killed at the age of 11. Arthur started to wander and perform crimes at a young age before he met Dutch. Since meeting Dutch, Arthur became a member of his gang and was a loyal friend to the leader. This changes as members of the gang are killed and Dutch starts to become reckless. Arthur spent the majority of his life with the gang, only for it to fall apart before he could leave it.
5Arthur Only Uses F-Word Twice
Unexpectedly for a Rockstar game, Arthur does not drop the F-bomb except for two times. One time is when he is referring to the Murfree Brood and another is when he is singing a song at camp. Even then, Arthur never says the word towards another character.

While Arthur does cuss, he reserves the F-word for special occasions. It shows that Arthur is not as crude as some of the other members in the gang.
4Got Tuberculosis From Thomas Downes
Players might have missed it on their first play through, but Arthur was infected with TB by Thomas Downes. When the player has to collect payment from Thomas, they must beat him. This causes Thomas to cough on Arthur, transmitting his infection.
It is revealed later in the game that Thomas died from TB earlier because of the beating. Just to think, if Arthur didn’t go to collect Thomas' debt, he could still be alive.
3Can Draw New Austin Points Of Interest
Despite never being able to enter New Austin, Arthur has the ability to draw thepoints of interest. These drawing differ from the ones John Marston can draw, as they look better and the handwriting is neater.

This could reveal that Arthur was suppose to go to New Austin at some point in the game. Trying to cross into Blackwater will cause the player to be chased by bounty hunters and sniped long before they can get to New Austin.
It is revealed that Arthur got a waitress pregnant and had a son before the game started. Arthur would spend time with the two for a few days, trying to be a good father. One day when he came back to their house, he found two crosses and found out they had been killed for $10.
Arthur does not mention it often in the game, but the player will probably notice it when following Rains Fall during a mission. Arthur will speak about his son, only to be interrupted so Rains Fall can pick some flowers.
1Characters React To His Death
After Arthur dies, the player takes over as John Marston. By finding characters, such as Rains Fall or the two Civil War veterans, there is a chance Arthur will be mentioned. Rains Fall will mention him by name, while the two veterans will make reference to him.
By completing the mission’The Widow of Willard’s Rest’as Arthur, John can go back to the cabin to tell the widow that Arthur had died. This will cause the women to offer John supplies and a place to stay, as she says she would have died if Arthur had not helped.
