Summary
With fast-paced combat, aggressive enemies, and bosses with a whole bunch of different attack patterns, players will need to stay on their toes if they want to make it throughRemnant 2. As they make their way through the game, players will come across all kinds of unique bosses depending on thecurrent ‘state’ of their worldas well as where they initially started in said world.Like all Soulslike games, of which there are quite a few,Remnant 2prides itself on testing the player’s skill at every turn and pushing them with tough encounters. As a result, every enemy ‘can’ be dangerous, but for bosses in particular there are a select few that are much tougher than the rest, especially for solo players.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the tougher bossesRemnant 2has to offer. Keep in mind these rankings were determined by taking the bosses' attack pattern, complexity, dodge timing, damage, max health, and the difficulty of their ‘gimmick’ into account and comparing them to each other. Some bosses inRemnant 2aremore like puzzlesthan boss fights, so it’s really best to decide on things like this on a case-by-case basis.
Updated October 1st, 2024 by Marc Santos:The launch of Remnant 2’s Dark Horizon DLC added a number of new mainline bosses and Aberrants hidden in the world. While most experienced players should be able to deal with these threats with relative ease, the final boss of the DLC deserves to be mentioned here among the other difficult bosses in the game. As such, we’ve updated this list to include Dark Horizon’s last boss to give players some insight on what makes it so intimidating compared to most other enemies.
Glowing Purple Spots
Conflux Prism, Tome of Knowledge, & Lumenite Crystals
Starting things off with a perfect example of a boss fight that’s more of a ‘puzzle’ than it is a ‘battle. The Labyrinth Sentinel is not a conventional fight by any means as it is not a single enemy but rather a collection of seemingly sentient cubes, all of which move in a certain pattern around the Labyrinth arena and all of which can one-shot the player by crushing them.
To defeat the boss, players will want to learn the pattern these cubes move around the arena in and use these windows of safety to shoot at the glowing purple-white centers of every cube they see. Once all the glowing sides of each cube (including the ones floating overhead) have been destroyed, the boss is defeated. The true challenge of this boss fight is not getting frustrated as the player gets one shot over and over again while they get used to the route of these cubes. On the upside, though, at least players do not really need to think about healing. These cubes, funnily enough, feel eerily similar to the ‘Tox Cubes’ found inSuper Mario 64’sShifting Sand Land, but a whole lot more frustrating.
Ravager’s Lair (Yaesha)
Back
Ravager’s Maw:Shoot Ravager & kill the Doe before it can eat it
Crimson Membrance:Shoot Ravager and let it eat the Doe during the battle
Ravager’s Mark:Kill the Doe when the Ravager demands it
Doe’s Antler:Heal the Doe with Relicthen fight the Ravager
Found in the dense, tendril-covered world of Yaesha (now dealing with a full-on Root infestation), the Corrupted Ravager is a world boss that will challenge even the most experienced players. This lumbering beast may look weakerthan it did inRemnant: From the Ashesdue to the Root spreading across its body, but it’s actually the opposite. This ‘immortal’ version of the Ravager is extremely fast, has a lot of different attacks, and hits ridiculously hard. It will also summon some Root Tumbler minions during the fight that can be a real pain to deal with while the Ravager is using some of its more devastating attacks such as that attack it does where it runs in circles and pulls players towards it.
To take it on, players will want to aim for its back, AKA the entire red Root ‘pustule’ on its back, and deal with its summons as soon as possible. It’s also a good idea to be on opposite sides of the arenain multiplayer, as this can make dealing with the larger area-of-effect attacks a bit easier. The Ravager is also a boss that has a whole lot of different alternate rewards, all of which are entirely dependent on how players respond to the Ravager’s ‘deal’.
Beatific Gallery (Losomn)
Head
Faelin’s Sigil, Imposter’s Heart, Strange Object, Tome of Knowledge, & Lumenite Crystals
Malefic Gallery (Losomn)
Faerin’s Sigil, Melded Hilt, Strange Object, Tome of Knowledge, & Lumenite Crystals
There’s virtually zero difference in difficulty between these next two bosses, Faelin and Faerin, but they’re both still a challenging fight overall. The only ‘differences’ are the visuals of the arena they fight in, the color of their attacks, and the rewards from beating them. The player chooses themselves whether they’ll fight the light world’s Faelin or the dark world’s Faerin. Both of these Imposter Kings are nimble fighters that use a mixture of melee and ranged attacks and can even summon these orbs of light that spew projectiles at the player.
Like with most humanoid enemies, you’ll want to aim for the head during the fight as it’s their weak spot. But, the real challenge of these fights overall is getting used to their timing. Both Faelin and Faerin have a lot of different sword attacks at melee range, with a good number of them being intentionally delayed so as to work as a ‘feint’ and get you to dodge roll too early. And, depending on the difficulty your game is set to, getting caught in this feint can absolutely lead to getting killed almost instantly. But, once this timing is learned, most of the fight just becomes about dealing with their summons as quickly as possible, and the rest is a cakewalk.
Forlorn Fragment, Tome of Knowledge, & Lumenite Crystals
Crown of the Red Prince:Gained by getting the last hit on the Red Prince with the Assassin’s Dagger
The Red Prince is not only one of the best-looking characters (and Armor Sets) inRemnant 2, but it’s also one of the most well-designed fights in the game. Nothing ever seems to beat a good boss fight against another humanoid enemy that’s just a bit bigger than the player, such as Artorias fromDark Souls, Hoarah Loux fromElden Ring, and of course now the Red Prince. Now, the Red Prince won’t always show up in every ‘roll’ of Losomn, so players might have to re-roll their worlds a few times to get him to show up.
But, once they do, they’re able to get 3 different rewards depending on if they pay tribute to him, fight and kill him, or fight and ‘assassinate’ him. The fight as a whole is very cinematic and relatively punishing. However, once players get used to the part of the fight where the Red Prince uses a cyclone of fire to ‘shrink’ the arena, it gets a whole lot easier. As long as players are confident in their dodge timing, most shouldn’t have much of a problem at all overcoming the Red Prince.
Black Mass, Scrap, Lumenite Crystals, Tome of Knowledge
Monorail Long Gun- Defeat Alepsis-Taura without destroying any crystals.
At the very end of theDark HorizonDLC, players will get to face off with Alepsis-Taura, the super-massive black hole that also happens to be a sentient and malevolent creature. Destroying this boss will save N’Erud from obliteration, but it won’t go down without a fight. The hardest part of Alepsis-Taura’s moveset is that it overwhelms players with a ton of visual cues, forcing them to pay attention to multiple things at once.
This boss carries on the trend of shooting weakspots while dodge-rolling through incoming attacks. With enough attempts, players should be able to get the timing of the boss’ moves down. Alepsis-Taura will be significantly easier to fight if players destroy the crystals around The Convergence before entering the boss arena, but for those who want to unlockone of the best Long Guns inRemnant 2, they’ll have to beat this boss while it’s at full power.
Forgotten Prison (N’Erud)
Acidic Jawbone, Shining Essence Echo, Tome of Knowledge, & Lumenite Crystals
Tal’Ratha is fought at the end of the Shining Essence Echo storyline in N’Erud after he offers the player the choice to be eaten by him. There’s awhole lot of lore in-gamethat explains why this giant green alien blob looks like this and why he thinks that eating the player character is a ‘favor’ he’s doing for them, but all you really need to know is that getting eaten leads to a different fight and a different reward. If the player refuses, they will face his standard version, which is almost equally as difficult as the Metaphysical variant. If they refuse, they will be forced to fight his Metaphysical form, which does have a larger arena but has attack patterns that are more difficult to get used to in exchange.
Despite being such a large boss, Tal’Ratha is extremely quick and will use his teleportation to close the gap and disorient the player. At melee range, Tal’Ratha has some relatively predictable swings, so that’s not too bad, but it’s when he forces players back to the edges of the arena that things become a real pain. Getting past this phase, especially before Gunfire Games improved thestability of the multiplayer, is a real challenge, but if players make it past it they have a very high chance of coming out of the fight alive.
Chamber of the Faithless (Losomn)
Mouth/Head
Agony Spike, Tome of Knowledge, & Lumenite Crystals
Nimue’s Blood-Mared Vow:Agree to kill Nimue then switch sides after talking to her
Tormentor’s Pommel:Get the last hit on the King after destroying his mace while he’s staggered
Burden of the Departed:Automatically gained after battle if the player is wearing the Burden of the Divine
Ah, the One True King, the final boss ofRemnant 2’sAwakened King DLC. This boss was hinted at in the base game when players investigated his ‘assassination’ and eventually even retrieved the Assassin’s Dagger from the back of his neck. And now that the OTK is awake again from the removal of the cursed Dagger, he’s going on a rampage.
The One True King used to be a model ruler, and it was impressive he ever managed to keep the Fae in line at all. But now? He doesn’t trust anyone, has killed the majority of the Fae for the sake of revenge, and is obsessed with destruction. So, it’s time for players to put him downand get his rewards, though this can be pretty challenging. Thankfully, despite being so massive, players don’t just fight the OTK’s upper half on some platform like so many games tend to do with their giant bosses. Instead, they truly get to experience just how massive the One True King is as he swings a mace around that has his own Fae subjects chained to it.
The biggest obstacle in this fight are the sections of it where the OTK summons some ‘sacrifices’ in the form of the native Losomn residents. If players don’t kill these summons quickly enough, the King will actually drain them of their lives and heal quite a bit, which can extend the fight a good chunk. But, as long as players make sure this phase benefits the OTK as little as possible, it’s a very fair but overall pretty challenging boss fight as a whole.
Heart when visible
Cursed Dream Silks, Tome of Knowledge, & Lumenite Crystals
Nightweaver’s Finger:Destroy the Nightweaver’s Heart & kill her in this spectral form
The Nightweaver is the World Boss that gives players by far one of thebest Long Guns inRemnant 2,the Nightfall. However, getting to her is pretty involved, and actually beating her is an even greater challenge. The Nightweaver is no joke as a boss fight, as she typically deals very high damagecompared to the player’s level, has some very wide hitboxes on her attacks, and has a couple of moves that almost always one-shot whoever they hit.
Thankfully, the default reward for beating the Nightweaver is a bit easier than the alternate kill, though players will have to deal with her spider summons more often this way. On top of all this, the arena where players fight the Nightweaver in is very small, and it’s easy to get caught on the terrain. So, it’s not just the boss itself that makes the fight so difficult.
Broken Compass, Forgotten Memory, Tome of Knowledge, & Lumenite Crystals
The final boss of the game, Annihilation is certainly not an easy fight. Cancer and Venom, the other sub-bosses found in Root Earth, are also incredibly challenging, but this one (rightfully) takes things to another level. The first phase of Annihilation is difficult enough, as there are about 5 different attacks that players must memorize the dodge timing and telegraphs of, or they’ll find themselves on the ground.
Then, once they get to the second phase of the fight, there’s the whole ‘arena switching’ mechanic to deal with, which would already be enough to disorient most players. But, on top of all this, the version of Annihilation players fight in the sort of wireframe ‘realm’ that has even more attacks and arena traps it places that almost always overwhelm the player with raw visual stimuli. To make a long rant a bit shorter, Annihilation has a bit too much going on visually, and this can make it feel impossible to actually get past this boss, especially on the higher-difficulty options.
