The single-player game sets players as Captain Titus of the Ultramarines, a chapter of genetically engineered superhumans tasked with defending humanity from an ever-encroaching horde of alien conquerors. The sequel was announced at The Game Awards 2021, surprising fans whohadn’t expected aWarhammer 40K: Space Marinesequel.

Rumors from Insider Gaming speculate that a gameplay debut forWarhammer 40K: Space Marine 2will be unveiled at The Game Awards 2022 on December 8. Players will be able to continue the story from the first game, with players taking the role of Captain Titus and fighting against a swarm of ravenous alien creatures called Tyranids. The sequel was announced in 2021, but there was very little gameplay footage revealed along with it. Of course, some40Kfans might not be as interested in another hack-and-slash game set in the 41st Millenium, given the turn-based strategy roots of the franchise. However, there seems to be enough of a market to makeSpace Marine 2worth it, and it seems that a lot of fans will be excited to see gameplay footage if this rumor proves to be true.
