Side quests inPaper Mario: The Thousand-Year Doorunlock as you progress through the story, so you’ll want to swing by Rogueport East and check the Trouble Center. If you’re aiming to 100% the cookbook, then you’ll need to complete the “Security code…” Trouble. The side quest can be tedious as it requires a lot of backtracking to each area you’ve unlocked. Despite this, the reward for “Security code…” can potentially unlock various recipes that can help you in battle.

How to Find the Security Code
You can get the “Security code…” Trouble after completing Chapter 6. This is requested by the Ratooey Businessman that you met on the Excess Express. Once you accept the Trouble, go to Glitzville, and you’ll find the Ratooey standing between the entrance to the Glitz Pit and the Hot Dog Stand.
This time, you won’t have to worry about tracking down the briefcaselike you had in Chapter 6. Instead, you’ll need to find its four-digit security code. The businessman has a fascination with chairs and has used them as “clues” for remembering the passcode.In order, you’ll need:
It should be noted that he counts anything that can beusedas a chair. This means furniture such as stools are fair game. Of course, it’s a lot of work to run back and forth to these areas for the businessman, so that’s where Mario comes in.
It helps if you’ve unlockedthe Warp Pipe room in Rogueport Underground. Each pipe will lead you to the areas you need to visit (ie: Petalburg, Boggly Woods, etc).
If you’d rather skip the backtracking and jump straight to the reward, then speak to the businessman right after he tells you where to go. The security code for the briefcase is2625.
As a reward for the code, the businessman will give you a free bottle ofHot Sauce, which can be used in cooking. You can get another Hot Sauce bottle from him any time you want, but it’ll cost you 10 Coins.

What Should You Cook?
The main use for Hot Sauce is cooking, but like any other cooking item, you can use it in battle. Using a Hot Sauce willgrant the Charged effect to its user, increasing their attack power by 1 point. If you don’t have any FP to use Charge or if you simply don’t have the Charge badge equipped, then Hot Sauce can potentially help you in a pinch.
Unfortunately, Hot Sauce can’t be cooked by itself. You’re going to want to grab theCookbookfrom Creepy Steeple and give it to Zess T. in Rogueport. The Cookbook is locked in a chest behind the wall of Creepy Steeple’s main hallway (use Tube Mode to reach it). With the Cookbook, you’ll be able to combine two ingredients instead of one.
If, for some reason, Zess T. won’t accept the Cookbook, go to the Trouble Center and take “Seeking legendary book!” This will appear on the board after you’ve completed Chapter 4.
Adds the Charged effect and restores 7HP and 7FP.
Restores 10HP and 10FP.
Restore 20FP, but lose 1HP.
Restores 4HP and 4FP.
