After a few weeks of speculation, social media absences, and a few teasers along the way, popular streamer Shroud has finally announced where he is taking his streaming talents. In a cool little video, Shroud has announced that he will be returning to Twitch, which he references as “home.”

Shroud had signed a huge deal to stream exclusively on Microsoft’s streaming platform, Mixer. Mixer was always clearly behind Twitch in terms of viewer count but it attempted to bring in high-profile streamers to close the gap. Shroud and another streaming superstar, Ninja, were at the center of this attempt for Mixer to catch up to Twitch as the two streamers signed deals with Mixer hoping that their huge followings would come over to Microsoft’s streaming platform. However, things didn’t go quite as Microsoft planned andMixer announced it was shutting downback in June. After the shutdown, Shroud kept quiet about his future streaming plans until today when he made an official announcement.

Since July 30,Shroud had been releasing little GIFs online teasing a potential return. The three teaser tweets amassed roughly 160,000 likes before Shroud finally released a full video with his announcement. The video shows several different guns being constructed that feature different highlights from Shroud’s streams. Eventually, the video features the words, “I’m coming home” and the Twitch logo which confirms that Shroud is coming back to stream on Twitch. Shroud hasn’t offered any other details about the return toTwitchor if he has signed another exclusive deal with the platform.

After the Mixer shutdown, a lot of other partners and streamers with exclusive deals scrambled to plan their next move. While some of those streamers could head straight to Facebook Gaming, per the shutdown terms, other streamers went back to Twitch because the platform dominates in viewership. Ninja is still one of the former Mixer partners who is floating around in streaming limbo as he has not made a permanent move to another platform just yet. Recently,Ninja returned to Twitchto stream with Dr. Lupo, however, he hasn’t streamed on the platform since.

In other streamer news, Dr. Disrepsect returned to streaming after an unexpected ban from Twitch and hiatus from streaming altogether. Dr. Dispresect has been streaming on YouTube lately to a ridiculous amount of viewers, even hosting around 500,000 viewers on his return stream. In his first stream since the Twitch ban,Dr. Dispresect mentioned that he still doesn’t know why he was bannedfrom Twitch.

This is some needed good news for Twitch as the streaming platform has been the center of plenty of different controversies lately. Recently,Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez drafted a bill to stop the US Military from using Twitchto recruit its viewers to join the Army. The Army’s Twitch channel was running fake promotions that would direct viewers to recruitment and information websites for the US Armed Forces. After this news made headlines, the US Army’s Twitch channel was shut down for a short amount of time before being reinstated after AOC’s bill was shot down.
