Wuuthrad is the legendary battleaxe wielded by Ysgramor, one of the most legendary Nords inSkyrim’s expansive history. Ysgramor holds many titles: he was a king in the northern continent of Atmora, then he conquered Skyrim and became a Nordic Hero bydriving out all Elves, and to top it all off, he is credited as the first human historian for giving the Nordic tongue written form.

Wuuthrad is the battleaxe he purportedly wielded against his ancient Elven enemies, and as such it is a legendary relic revered by the Companions, who trace their history back to the original 500 that followed Ysgramor. As such, it carries a potent anti-Elven effect – the perfect enchantment for a Dragonborn who joinsSkyrim’s Stormcloaks.
Wuuthrad is a two-handed Battleaxe and thus benefits from Perks in the Two-Handed Skill Tree. Its raw damage is not theworst in the game, but not quite the best either, which changes when taking its unique effect into consideration. The base 25 damage increases to 30 when fighting against any Elves, races ending in -mer. This of course scales with level and Perks.

It’s a relatively heavy weapon, though, clocking in at 25 inventory weight. It’s not the most practical thing to take into Survival Mode, where it takes up a greater percentage of the player’s inventory space. For two-handed weapon aficionados, though, Wuuthrad is good to keep in the inventory, ready to be equipped for combat against Elven foes.
How To Get Wuuthrad
Wuuthrad is theultimate reward for completingthe Companions questline, which begins in Whiterun’s Jorrvaskr. Over the course of this faction’s arc the player slowly rebuilds the legendary battleaxe by finding its fragments spread throughout Skyrim.
At the end of the Companions questline players go to Ysgramor’s tomb and place Wuuthrad into a statue of the legendary Nord hero. After it’s been placed, it can be picked up again with no consequences, adding it tothe player’s inventory as a weapon and letting them use one of the Nords' most treasured historical artifacts.
