Released more than eleven years ago, theElder Scrolls 5: Skyrimhas certainly enjoyed a long shelf life. But withBethesda releasingSkyrimAnniversary Edition last year, it feels as though the 2011 epic doesn’t even know the meaning of the term “use by date.” And that’s fine for the most part. Millions are still enjoying the colder regions of Tamriel, while others are just now playing it for the first time. On top of that, there are a ton of mods that can improve the visuals, add new elements, or just give players some powerful tools.

As an example, users phenderix and EchoEclipse have created an add-on forSkyrimcalled the “Skyrim Cheat Engine.” The mod, as spotted by PCGamesN, is the ultimate tool for allowing players to spawn in literally any item that’s featured in the game. While this is possible to do anyway, at least on the PC version, this implements a much simpler user interface, thereby saving the need to have to enter individual item IDs into the console command window. It even comes with a search function.

According to the description on Nexus Mods, it really does give players the opportunity to add anything through a much more user friendly menu system. This includes weapons, books, NPCs, keys, spells, potions, soul gems, and it even gives players the opportunity to unlock any ofSkyrim’s powerful Shouts. It’s as easy as holding down the left bracket key, which brings the cheat menu up. What’s good about it is there’s a download for the Anniversary Edition and one for the Special Edition.

Perhaps one of the things that keeps the long-running game going is all the mods that continue to make themselves known. This latest one by phenderix and EchoEclipse is just one of an absolute slew ofincredibleSkyrimmods. Whether players want to make the game look prettier, are tired of the base UI system, want more missions and NPCs, or enjoy turning dragons into Thomas the Tank Engine, there’s a mod for everyone out there.

Given thatThe Elder Scrolls 6is still apparently in pre-production, fans are trying to get the most out ofSkyrim. The vanilla build of the game is big enough, but is ultimately finite, and many have seen the opening cut scene more times than they can count. Some are likely getting impatient waiting for the next installment in the franchise, but at least the modding community can continue to keep things interesting for the time being.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimis available for PC, PS3, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
