OneSkyrimplayer somehow managed to create a Poison Resist potion that also poisons the player. The potion adds a 37 percent Poison Resistance for 60 seconds but deals a flat 19 points of Poison Damage, which will presumably be partially negated by the effect of the potion. This seems to be a decent tradeoff, but it is interesting that the game allows a potion to give the player the same type of damage it’s supposed to negate.
The Alchemy inSkyrimis something of a gift that keeps on giving with regard to humorous and sometimes downright inexplicable effects.AnotherSkyrimplayer crafted a Waterbreathing potionthat instantly kills the player, which has been dubbed the “quickload potion” since the game will automatically load the player’s last save. Thankfully the Poison Resist potion that also poisons the player doesn’t have such dramatic consequences attached to it; it could still be useful in a pinch since the damage it deals is far below the 1020 damage dealt by the fatal Potion of Waterbreathing.
While players seem to be having a lot of fun with the game’s Alchemy mechanic even years after it released by crafting potions with dubious levels of usefulness, there aresome potion recipes inSkyrimthat are all around beneficial. Some potion recipes might offer the player a tradeoff, like the Poison Resist potion discussed in this article, but there are many that offer multiple beneficial effects. For example, if a player combines Ashen Grass Pod, Pine Thrush Egg, and Purple Mountain Flower, they will get a potion that fortifies Sneak, Lockpicking, and also restores Stamina.
Skyrimis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
