Developer Larian Studios has revealed that people who have already purchased the early access version ofBaldur’s Gate 3won’t have to dig into their pockets if they want the newly announced digital deluxe edition. The studio recently showed off the contents of theBaldur’s Gate 3digital deluxe and physical collector’s editions, which both come with the original OST, artbook, character sheets, an exclusive dice skin, and some fun DLC.
Baldur’s Gate 3has been in early access since October 2020 and has already amassed over 50,000 reviews on Steam, resulting in an aggregate rating of “Very Positive.” The full version is slated to launch on August 31, and a recent study revealedBaldur’s Gate 3to be one of the most anticipated games of 2023. The final early access patch and the Paladin class were released for the game in December 2022, though there have been several hotfixes since, so the full game shouldn’t be greatly different from what is currently available.

While theXbox Series X/S versions ofBaldur’s Gate 3don’t yet have a release date due to technical issues, gamers can already pre-order both the regular and digital deluxe versions of the title for PS5 for $69.99 and $79.99, respectively. However, Larian Studios has confirmed that those who buy the early access PC version will be upgraded to the digital deluxe edition for free. With the early access version still available for purchase from various digital storefronts for $59.99, that’s clearly the best deal for fans with no platform preference who aren’t interested in the physical collector’s edition.
Theminimum required PC specs forBaldur’s Gate 3were recently updated, but they are still not extremely demanding. An Intel i5 4690 or AMD FX 8350, 8 GB of RAM, and either an Nvidia GTX 970 or AMD RX 480 are all that’s required. Considering that those graphics cards came out in 2014 and 2016, respectively, it’s likely that most players will be able to run the PC version ofBaldur’s Gate 3,although just how well is another question.
While the game has only been in early access for two and a half years,Baldur’s Gate 3was announced a year prior and was undoubtedly in development even before that. This means that, to some people, the graphics makeBaldur’s Gate 3look like a PS4 title and not the next-gen release it will be. While the game can look absolutely fantastic on PC, with appropriately powerful rigs, it may not satisfy console players who are already accustomed to PS5 and Xbox Series-tier visuals and framerates.
Baldur’s Gate 3is currently in Early Access and releases on August 31 for PC and PS5, with an Xbox Series X/S version still in development.
